I really like the idea of one of these as our house gets pretty cold in winter, and it seems perfect for sitting round the campfire whilst camping too. What I don't like is how blob-like I suspect I will look in it, and how cheap and shiny some of the fabrics look. Is there such a thing as a slightly more stylish, less cheap-looking version of it out there somewhere?

You dont wear oodies because they are flattering. You wear them because theyre cosy and warm and comfortable.

SkankingMopoke · 16/10/2021 00:29

Ha! Yes, I understand that. But at a glance some seem slightly less awful than others. I was hoping some MNers had had success in finding the better ones, and could share their finds!

I think then you just need a big standard fleece as an Oodie is just a size 6XL fleece. Big enough to bend your knees and fit inside.

A branded Oodie isn’t cheap and shiny looking. I was really surprised by how good the quality is. They’re gorgeous.

Last year I got my daughters sienna branded ones. They love them and they don't seem particularly shiny.

However I have noticed that lots of high street shops have jumped on the bandwagon and are doing these. Saw one in primark. Sure I saw one pop up in next as well.

I just use normal 'loungewear' fleecy tops. Normal size rather than oversized. I don't like being too hot.

Primark do a version. £14.

My daughter got me a Comfy for Christmas last year and I’m delighted with it.

It warms you up so quickly in the house and I’ve taken it camping several times. Having seen a few Oodie ads I’d think the Comfy is slightly sleeker. My only minor issue is the colour, DD ordered the one in the link which is definitely more Santa than wine coloured in reality. I bought my mum one in the darker blue which she loves.

I have two of these from Amazon and everyone I see when I have it on wants one. So warm and comfy and the large pocket is good for storing stuff when you're putting stuff away around the house Grin

The Comfy is the really shiny look I wasn't so keen on, and I definitely am not going for the Santa look so thank you for that warning!
@Newnormal99 I already have a variety of long length cardis and regular fleeces I use as lounge wear, but the more tired I become, the less tolerant of fitted clothes I am (particularly around the shoulders and under arms). By about 8pm all but a loose fitting cotton vest and loose yoga trousers have been removed in frustration.
@JerkintheMerkin thank you, the Tristin ones have a good few matt finish colours. It's significantly cheaper too.

Does anyone have a Kudd.ly?

I am currently sporting a floor length version that is a beautiful royal blue and fleece lined. It looks like a gown and it's amazing.
I genuinely think the government should dish these out to older people for this Winter. It's all anyone needs in the cold.
