And I’m totally stuck! I’m mid-30s, size 10, and feel like everything is either too skimpy, too frumpy, or too high-necked which does not suit my round face Grin I’ve totally lost my way with fashion since covid.

I’ve looked on Mango, Zara, Oasis, Mint Velvet and can’t see anything I like Confused

Following for similar dilemmas.

Didn't really buy going out tops last winter - other than base layers as we were drinking outdoors!

Boood · 15/10/2021 09:55

Try Banana Republic

Silk shirts from &others tories are beautiful, flattering and go with everything

Etonmessisyum · 15/10/2021 11:38

There doesn’t seem to be anything going out outy that’s not the same old stuff pedalled every year at the moment imo. Did find some lovely velvet jeans from sosander but want a pretty but different top to go with them. Do quite like Oliver bonas at the moment but some of the fabrics I refuse to pay £50 for for a top and the others I like are out of stock. So will be watching this thread too op, good luck 🤞

I have this great price in the sale, excellent quality and washes well.

Hi OP, have you thought about using Stitch Fix or similar. You tell them your size, likes and dislikes and they send you a choice, you can keep all, some or none.

I've just had my first delivery and was really happy, not clothes I would usually think to pick but really suited me. I kept 4 of 5 choices.

Yup, I'm a silk shirt girl too (eBay great for lightly used)
SylviaTrench · 16/10/2021 10:11

I’ve just ordered a couple from John Lewis And/or
Sosander had some nice ones recently too

TuftyRusty · 16/10/2021 11:17

I get going out tops from places like Sézane, Rouje and Reformation.

Beachlovingirl · 16/10/2021 12:19

French connection had £15 off anything over £60 so I got two things:

www.frenchconnection.com/product/woman-collections-tops/72rnh/eshka-sequin-detail-shirt.htm

www.frenchconnection.com/product/woman-collections-tops/72rch/cora-pleated-smock-top.htm

I haven’t got them yet but they look pretty nice and I could wear the sequin collar / cuffs one on Christmas Day potentially.

I don’t know if the promo code still works but it is OCTOBER15

LaBellina · 16/10/2021 12:32

Velvet is back in apparently.
I’d love to buy a burgundy velvet top for this winter (to wear with a black choker necklace for a true 90’s feel) but so far haven’t seen one.

SheWoreYellow · 16/10/2021 12:34

I’m similar.

I just see a silk shirt as being work wear. That’s partly my shape, I’m better in something more fitted to my waist. So that rules those out.

whiteonesugar · 17/10/2021 00:04

I have a couple of lovely tops from AX Paris which are good for ‘jeans and nice top’

I had a look at Coast, didn’t see anything, and Monsoon. A couple of nice velvet tops.

I like this.

EllaPaella · 17/10/2021 10:12

Love that blouse @Mercurial123. Very tempted to buy that.

Mercurial123 · 17/10/2021 11:28

EllaPaella it's really nice and washes well. I have it in black.

EmmaStone · 17/10/2021 19:00

I've just bought a black with small gold star print blouse in M&S this afternoon, although can't see it online. Only £20, polyester unfortunately, but don't mind for the price (funnily enough, it's label featured that it was recycled polyester, who knew that was desirable?!? Other than hopefully a bit more eco-friendly I suppose..).

But there were quite a few nice blouses in store, some velvet too. Wouldn't normally be my first spot, but sometimes you can find the odd gem.

I've just bought this from Mint Velvet which is really nice and a bit different.

MV top

They have 15% off at the moment.

This is lovely! Is there a discount code? Along the velvet lines - I’ve just bought a velvet blazer from Mango and it’s gorgeous (saw Holly W in one similar and loved it!)
VivaVegas · 19/10/2021 11:30

@NellyDElephant yes the code is Winter15, I think it only has a couple of days left.
