Wide leg jeans - what do I wear them with?

Bought some wide leg jeans in a desperate attempt to feel young. What top do I wear? I'm 5ft, size 16. I have chunky heeled black ankle boots and also metallic gold/bronze DM style shoes. I have a burgundy (is that even a colour these days) silk bomber jacket and a black leather jacket. Going for early dinner and then casual cocktails (read as 2 for 1 in some cheapie chain place ).

My take would be:
Slim top half with wide bottoms
Nothing flouncy/frilly/voluminous
Fine knit top or long sleeved T-shirt, leather jacket and any item of your footwear

Silk bomber sounds great too. I think the jacket and the jeans are a statement do they top underneath can be fairly plain.

@HumourReplacementTherapy thank you - so a plain white t would work? Do I have to tuck it in?

I've just bought some wide leg jeans too. Am wearing them with either trainers or DM boots. T-shirt or fine knit jumper tucked in. The issue I have is what sort of coat to wear with them, especially as the weather gets colder!

@PearlHart are you wearing them a bit short? I was thinking of a pea coat for the winter.

I do have some short wide leg linen trousers but the jeans are full length. I somehow can't get my head around short wide leg jeans

It's all a bit Bay City Rollers unless you're careful. Avoid bomber jackets or crop tops. Wear something fitted and neat on the top half. A pea coat sounds like a good idea for cooler weather.

I recently got some wide leg jeans and I've been wearing them with a thick black belt and a funky patterned shirt tucked in. I think I'd look a bit bottom heavy if I wore something fitted on top.

@PearlHart I mean kind of ankle grazer length - so you can see your shoes. @Maireas oh no - so my lovely silk jacket is a no go?! I just thought a leather is a bit old hat now so what jacket would you wear?
And don't worry - I am way past a crop top
@Brokenrecord3006 I was thinking of a check shirt but thought I might look too floofy.

How about a short wrap jacket? I got a nice bouclé one from Reiss.

@Leah2005 Jeans are longer than ankle grazer but not so long that they hide my shoes!
