Going to a wedding with relatively new boyf, friends of his I've never met, they're all a bit alternative/rocky crowd types so although it's a formalish wedding I get the idea it could be fairly relaxed... November though, I've got loads of lovely 50s type swing dresses but most are only good for a summer do, same for lovely heels and sandals, but again....I freeze, I'm not a warm blooded person, I have little to no money to buy anything new, maybe can stretch to a pair of shoes....

I'm dumpy at 5.3 and 11stone, mahoosive J cup boobs, relatively small waist but huge belly...mid 40s, bit alternative I guess (tattoos, blue/pink/purple hair, undercut etc....) Feeling very fat currently, not very confident at all.

I've got lots of clothes but right now I just can't see anything that might work, apart from this dress from hell bunny that I have, I wear it at Xmas mostly, I have lots like this shape, wiggle dresses too, but put on about a stone and a half in the last year and it's all on my boobs and belly thanksperimenopause so not a lot fits me well...it's all a bit uncomfortable 😬 I've gone from a slim size 12 to easily a size 14.

What could I wear with this? Thought maybe low ankle boots, black or navy, sheer tights? Or is it too early for tartan? I'm 38% Scottish according to ancestry DNA 🤣

Or maybe something else I have, I do have a dark navy swing dress, bit booby, looks good, but sleeveless ❄️🌬️

'elp!

I love it. Maybe with a black faux fur stole and a red beret!think it would fit in perfectly

Tartan is fine in November. I think it would look great with black faux fur as PP suggested plus high (over the knee?) black suede boots. If you get chilly perhaps a black uniqlo heattech scoop neck top underneath?

www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/women/innerwear-and-loungewear/innerwear?prefn1=NeckShape&prefv1=Scoop%20Neck&prefn2=searchColorID&prefv2=BLACK

Pull it down and tuck it in your knickers and it will only show as a bit of black cuff at the sleeve which usually looks quite stylish.

I have a lovely black swing coat, I could wear that possibly, plus I do have a little grey fake fur Cape thingy...

Shoes though? I do have black heels but I just feel a bit unsteady in them as they're stiletto type, much happier in wedges/black heels. Thinking shoe boot style might be better...

I did find these in black on eBay for 8 quid, can stretch to that....with sheer black tights?

I would go with Victorian lace up ankle boots.

SteppinOutwithMyBaby · 12/10/2021 23:19

@Theghostofchristmasarse A swing coat with that dress – fabulous. Very Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, a show which is my current yardstick for all things stupendous in the clothing line.

Theghostofchristmasarse · 12/10/2021 23:19

@londonmummy1966 good call. Not sure about knee high boots, if I bought shoes I think I'd need to get the wear out of them (I'm so skint right now) and I just don't think I would...maybe I'll try a few to see though. Top under is a good idea, but the back is a low scoop. Could cut or adapt a vest, I've got a sewing machine. Churches are so bloody cold!
Might have to search charity shops for a beret tomorrow 🤣 or maybe I thought something like this, I often wear my hair in scarves, but just black maybe

I think you'll look fabulous OP Smile

Oooh I've just realised I've got a pair, purple though, could dye them, haven't worn them in years....they're these irregular choice ones. I'd have to practice wearing them 🤣 I hated them, they were a present from my ex, I dyed them purple and still didn't like them, but black might work 🤔

And thank you all...I get so nervous at things like this, I'm just not looking like I remember as in my head I'm still the same age I was when I dated last (ahem, 20 years ago) when I was a size 8, before two children and two lockdowns...

Off to Google shoe dye and berets...🤣
