Face like sandpaper

I'm almost 40 and wash with soap and water, moisturise once in a blue moon and oddly get frequent compliments on my skin.

It's not spotty and I don't have milia, it just feels rough. Like gritty as though I've been in the sea and not washed it off.

Do I just need to moisturise more or do I need to add something else to my extensive repertoire?

You need a kessa glove op one for the face they sell them on amazon.
Then after that start using a glycolic acid toner every other day .
Serum and then moisturiser.

Thank you @Inthesameboatatmo have ordered one.

Ooh I wouldn’t do a physical exfoliate, get a gentle aha/bha chemical exfoliant like the cosrx toner and since you don’t do a lot with your skin don’t do it more than once a week to start. Other than that get a half decent moisturiser and use spf

Book in with a beautician for a chemical peel

Inthesameboatatmo · 12/10/2021 18:32

@Bearyhumcrack.
They are very gentle to use but be prepared for the skin that you will see coming off.

Bearyhumcrack · 12/10/2021 18:53

@inmyslippers I had one of those years ago and my skin literally came off in sheets and was itchy as funk. Did look amazing though... I'll think about it. Smile

Are the kessa gloves similar to Korean wash mitts?

Inthesameboatatmo · 12/10/2021 23:00

@burnerphone21.
The kessa glove is used in morrocan hamam bathing as well as beldhi soap.
I only do once a week maximum.
But yes similar to the Korean towel thing I believe but I've never used one of those only the kessa

Have a look at your routine.

A cleanser removed with a hot cloth will do wonders. Will gently exfoliate dead dull surface skin.

A vit C serum will add glow.

Look into an acid, as above, but choose one for your skin type. Dry/ageing- you probably need an AHA (glycolic etc) which doesn't penetrate as deeply into the skin, but gently resurfaces (does what those gritty scrubs used to do but without pulling your face off in the process) Oily/blemish prone- a BHA (salicylic etc) penetrates further into the skin to slurp out built up gunk. Both can be found on the high street as cheap as chips and really make a difference. Build up slowly. Nip & Fab pads are great for entry level acids. Don't be put off by the word acid, these acids are a million times gentler and more effective than manual scrubs.

Has the bumpiness come on suddenly? Should you be thinking of seeing the dr or pharmacist before trying new creams and treatments? It could be exczema or contact dermatitis or some sort of allergy.
