Jeans for Size 14-16 5 foot 2

I need some new jeans. I've put on so much weight through menopause it's depressing but can't seem to force myself to diet.

Skinny jeans look awful in me. I was a pear shape but now have added a huge stomach to the mix, so I guess I am now a barrel shape if that's a thing.

I bought some nice jeans from Mint Velvet on line in a 16. They were too big but I have kept them as I was desperate. I can't get to the shops as I live in deepest darkest Cornwall where there aren't any. I have been looking at Autograph jeans today.

Thanks all!

I'm a bit taller but the same size and I've really taken to M&S boyfriend jeans, which are straight legged with a fairly high but not too high waist and a turn up. They look fine and are comfy - better than the Lily, which were my old standby but are a bit too snug on the thigh now.

I am similar @Movinghouseatlast really struggling to find clothes to fit as have put on weight round middle and am short. I need some new jeans and can’t decide what’s best for the waistline; high waist to suck it all in but will this emphasise it or mid waist but will this feel uncomfortable? I look online and see hundreds of different jeans & just feel overwhelmed!

5ft 2 , 12-14 and apple shape and live in jeans.

I like high wasted slim leg and find levi 312 are good, plus boden slim and NYDJ and lily jeans from M&S.

waisted even !

Littlemiss74 · 12/10/2021 16:03

@Eve thanks for these ideas, what do you wear with them ie loose or more fitted style tops? I feel like I’m stuck in that fitted shows off my excess weight but looser stuff makes me look bigger than I am and frumpy🙁

I tread a thin line between fitted ( that wont show the weight) and very baggy , am always on the lookout for tops.

If I am out its a shell type top and jacket - jackets tend to be slightly fitted - I have a selection of whistles jersey jackets

I always have a shirt with a collar or v neck - round necks are not flattering at all.

and I like jersey shirts recently got these:

I thought up until recently that my body shape just wasn't right for jeans, until on the off chance I order a pair of Boden girlfriend jeans, I absolutely love them, they are so comfortable but also can look smart.

I'm in between a 12 and 14 and find that the 12 is just a tiny bit too tight and so the old muffin top look awful and a 14 is too baggy on the legs, but the Boden jeans fit really nicely in a size 14 petite.

I'm in agreement with the poster above with regards to neckline, I always try to go for a v neck and avoid anything with either a round neck or high neck as it's just not flattering.

These are the ones I went for

Also got a pair in the sale in a darker denim.

@CamdenLurker thanks I like the look of these - do they feel comfortable around the tummy, I just hate anything that feels like its digging in in the middle?

They Fit really well around the tummy area, I was fully expecting to send them back, but they honestly fit better than any other jeans I've tried on in the last year, I've put on quite a lot of weight and just feel so uncomfortable in most jeans.

The only other pair that are ok ish are the Ava mom Jean from Matalan (£16 so quite affordable) but they are slightly uncomfortable at the waist and don't look as good as the Boden girlfriend.

I've got 2 pairs from M&S recently I've been complimented on.
Mom jeans £39.50 & boyfriend jeans £39.50
