Just that really! So skinny jeans are ‘out’ but are they really? I absolutely refuse to do bare ankles past the end of this month and could do with a boot refresh but nothing really grabs me. I can’t see myself doing away with my skinnies but am open to other shapes as long as I can wear with the yet to be purchased boots. FWIW, I’m reasonably slim but my legs aren’t my finest feature (very slim) so between them and my legs I’m nit sure DMs or such would suit. But I could be wrong! What’s everyone else wearing?

I wear flares with Stan smith Adidas trainers

doodleygirl · 12/10/2021 10:42

I wear flares, straight and skinnies, biker boots, Chelsea boots and Stan smiths. I don’t care if skinnies are no longer “in”

notwavingbutdrowning5 · 12/10/2021 19:27

Stompy boots with rolled-up jeans or skinnies.

These stompy boots. They are blissfully comfortable.

I wear skinnies, suede ankle boots, and v-neck tops that cover my tummy. It really depends on your proportions.

moomoogalicious · 12/10/2021 19:46

Slim leg, rolled up with dm chelsea boots

Gingerwarthog · 12/10/2021 20:12

Still wearing skinny jeans. Wore black French connection skinnies to the pub on Saturday with chunky black biker boots. Felt great.

Chuckinitdown · 12/10/2021 22:28

I’m still reading and relieved to see that skinnies aren’t dead and buried! I’m going to treat myself to new boots as a wardrobe update. Thanks all.

@Snailhaterz2

Straight legged jeans in blue or faded black, worn slightly rolled up over doc martin or timberland ankle boots. Just bought some slightly looser jeans, which I'm planning to roll up a bit more to wear with some chunky brogue style shoes. Skinnies never really worked for me as I've got quite chunky calves.
This is me too. I cannot be doing with skinny jeans any longer. They're so dated looking. And bootcut? I was there the first time around so feel instantly dated in them.

I like the rolled up look with a nice boot...not docs but of that type. I wear nice brown ones with a chunky sole or Rossi's workboots. Belted and a nice top/jumper.

MalteseBubs · 13/10/2021 08:28

@StCharlotte

To be fair the only place I've seen that skinnies are out is on this board.

Grin I was just thinking the exact same thing

bendmeoverbackwards · 13/10/2021 08:47

Anyone have a link for slim flares please?

midnightbluevelvet · 13/10/2021 09:58

I recently bought the Harper cigarette leg from M and S and I love them! Wear them slightly rolled up with chunky ankle boots.

Bec21 · 13/10/2021 10:58

Not 50's......45 & I'm wearing these with skinnies

65 here, and wearing 7/8 rolled wide-leg Hiut Peggy jeans, with flatform boots from an Italian company bought on line about four years ago. The boots still look edgy, but need replacing. They are blissfully comfortable and have been resoled -- twice.

Divebar2021 · 13/10/2021 17:18

@XingMing

That sounds fantastic…I’d love some Hiut jeans but don’t need any at the moment. I haven’t worked out all my boot situation yet. I have bought some very chunky black Chelsea type boots and have worn them with boyfriend jeans. The boyfriend are slim enough for a number of ankle boots and I’m in the South East so the weathers not currently cold. (16 degrees today) so flash of ankle isn’t a problem. My barrel jeans look good with DM shoes and socks - I shall definitely be keeping my eyes peeled for cool socks. Skinnies are just for wellies for me. I’m done with them.

XingMing · 13/10/2021 17:44

@Divebar2021, one always needs more jeans... (n+1) is the equation! I really don't wear anything else, so like to have a few pairs on the go. It's the feet that finish off and define looks and keep things looking contemporary. Everything else is basic, comfortable and generally neutral. Although the Peggy jeans are red ones.

Sooverthemill · 13/10/2021 17:59

@XingMing I own 51 pairs of jeans. It's virtually all I wear too. Various styles. I think 2 pairs of skinnies left as I'm bored with them myself but wear what you like people ( I may not count as I'm 63 so a bit old). My current faves are Levi ribcage straight ankle and Agolde 90s loose crop

XingMing · 13/10/2021 20:29

@Sooverthemill, and there was me wondering about admitting to about 20 pairs. I doff my cap, woman!

I think it's possibly overkill. But Stylebook doesn't lie.

Littlemiss74 · 13/10/2021 20:49

@midnightbluevelvet I really like the look of the Harper jeans - are they comfortable & do they
keep their shape? I hate it when jeans grow a size larger after a days’ wear!

I have the Harper from 2 years ago in grey. They are VERY stretchy and hold their shape well imo

Littlemiss74 · 13/10/2021 20:57

@Sooverthemill thank you that’s good to know. Is the sizing pretty accurate in M&S jeans? I’m a size 12 although pushing it due to lockdown weight gain!😩

midnightbluevelvet · 13/10/2021 22:24

@Littlemiss74 Harper jeans are incredibly soft and comfortable. I am also a 12 and 12 fits perfectly.

Yes they are pretty TTS. I do t think I've ever sent back a pair due to size ( I only shop online)

Bluntness100 · 14/10/2021 08:28

Relaxed skinnies or straight for me and either trainers, biker boots or heeled suede boots.

ZaZathecat · 14/10/2021 10:12

I just got some skinnies with a split hem from Primark (more classy brands are doing them too). They're still good for inside boots but can also go over ankle boots or trainers as they open up giving the space, and look flared out at the bottom which kind of updates the look (I think!)
