How do you get volume at roots

My hair's quite fine and seems very flat. I would love some volume at the roots. Have tried mousse but it did nothing. Any tips?

head upside down when drying the roots then style as normal.

Putty is better than mousse, but it makes my hair huge

The root powder is good OP

Dry hair upside down
Root lift spray
Rollers

I second some root powder, I use this one.

Sleep on your hair wet with a cotton pillowcase.

This stuff - I promise it is magic in a rose scented spray.

The root powder is good but takes a bit of practice. It's got a very tacky texture.

Try a root crimper. You crimper the underneath sections of the hair, close to the root. this is the only thing I have efojnd that really keeps volume in my long. fine hair, and it lasts until the next wash. There doesn't seem to be many about online but Amazon have this one Toni&Guy Hello Day! Secret Volumising Crimper, TGIR1935UKE www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08C8GK9ZD/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_CXJYJZW2RB51Y3ZDEC4G?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

Product wise, TiGi Queen for. Day spray is good and will give lift but doesn't last as long as the crimping method.

Comb your hair in the shower after washing it so it's hanging upside down - I find this gives much longer lasting root lift than drying it upside down. I let my hair air dry with mousse on the roots and it stays lifted all day.

I use the got2be powder too

Thanks for all of these ideas, lots to try. Definitely hadn't considered crimping! going to look into all of them Flowers
