Easy Winter trousers that aren't jeans. Do they exist?

At the last count I had 17 pairs of jeans, different cuts and colours - and I will always, always love a good pair of jeans. But I'm slowly realising that jeans actually aren't all that comfy to wear all day! Today I'm wearing a pair of Hush harem trousers and they are incredibly comfortable and easy to wear, but probably a bit too casual to go out in.

Is there such a thing as every day, casual trousers (that don't look like work trousers) that go with most tops? Could such a wonderous item truly exist?

Cords?

Brigittebidet · 09/10/2021 17:21

Following with interest but with nothing at all useful to add.

Cords, moleskin, velvet trousers.

And also doesn't pick up fluff and dust like velvet/moleskin...

I love moleskin, but as someone already points out you are a magnet for every scrap of lint or fluff in a 5 mile area.

I haven't worn cords since about 1981 when I had a bright purple, Gloria Vanderbilt pair! Don't they make you look too bulky?

I've got these from eBay which are v comfy and smart enough to wear outdoors.

I like the Saint and Sofia Chelsea trousers, wide leg with buttons on the front so look smart, but made of ponte so super comfy. I also have a pair of wide leg Jersey trousers from baukjen, they're black too but they have a wide white stripe down the side which elevates them a bit.

Next have denim joggers which give the look of jeans but much comfier- be warned they come up massive though, size down

UNIQLO do great trousers.

peaceanddove · 09/10/2021 18:08

Do Uniqlo come up small? I'm a standard size 12.

I don't think so - they have a sizing tool on their website which insists I need a medium (I'm a size 8-10), but whenever I've ordered anything in that it's been too big, so I ignore it now and order a small, which is perfect.

They do heattech trousers which are great for winter and very comfy.

Smart joggers

Duvetdweller · 09/10/2021 18:34

I wear Gary joggers from sweaty Betty - they’re quite slim fitting so I think they look smart

peaceanddove · 09/10/2021 20:28

I like the idea of smart joggers. Any recommendations?

I know they get a bad rep on MN in general but M&S usually has lots of trousers that are as comfortable as joggers but looks quite smart.

I'm not loving these colours but this is otherwise a good example:
