Is Roman any good?

I get a lot of ads on social media for Roman. It looks quite nice, some of it, but I am wary of buying from companies I have no experience of. Can anyone recommend or should I steer clear?

I like the styles of about a third of their clothes (obviously that will be very individual and you might not like the same things) but hardly anything is natural fibres. You need to check carefully if you don't want to end up sweaty!

I brought a dress recently from them .I love it. my order came quickly and the stuff I sent back as I had ordered some different styles and sizes was refunded quickly. I will definitely use them again. The only thing was I couldn't see where their stuff was made.

chipsandpeas · 08/10/2021 20:20

ive bought a few things from them and found them very good

they have physical shops as well as online so they arent one of the shabby/scammy types you see on fb

adasills · 08/10/2021 20:21

agree with it not being natural fibres

Dumbledoresgirl · 08/10/2021 20:21

Yes I saw a dress I liked and then saw it was 97% polyester. Sad I mean, I'm not totally against manmade fibres and I do own polyester clothing, but it isnt really a risk I want to take buying online.

this is the one I got. .it is very flattering and I think because it's loose I didn't notice it was polyester ! it draped well

I have a dress from there which I love. Also ordered and returned another, no issue with getting a refund. Generally I think they're pretty good, as someone else said they're not one of those dodgy online brands you need to steer clear of.

NeedWineNow · 08/10/2021 22:16

I've bought a bit from there - we've got a shop in our local town and also a shop in our local outlet centre. I've got some cropped trousers for work which are great, they do them in loads of colours. Good for cruise evening wear, and I got a bargain padded jacket in the outlet store recently. It had a tiny tear on the front which was easily repaired - it was on the rack non-refundable for the princely sum of £5!

Some of the stuff is a bit aging it's fair to say, but there are some gems to be found.

StCharlotte · 08/10/2021 22:43

Nope. I'm returning a dress from them. It's actually quite nasty.

Geamhradh · 08/10/2021 23:05

People on here are very snooty about brands like Roman. Yet rave about Hush and Mint Velvet with their ruched shoulders and animal print viscose.
I find as pp's said that some of the stuff is nice, some of the patterns garish though (like everyone really)
Some great tops and dresses.

tigerbreadandtea · 08/10/2021 23:08

Bought a dress, it was at least two sizes too big and then I got charged to return it

Ozanj · 08/10/2021 23:12

I feel so disloyal saying it because they’re one of the few brands still in the shops, but it is comparable to Quiz in my opinion. Ie utter utter shite. As far as these kinds of budget

Ozanj · 08/10/2021 23:12

brands go (and I use budget loosely) Apricot is probably the best and even that’s rubbish.

The Bengaline trousers are superb - full-length in a few darkish colours I wear all year round, they are as comfy as leggings, but are woven fabric with a stretch rather than knitted fabric. Pull- on, elastic waist, but not skin tight. My 3 pairs have been worn for long muddy dog walks coming into third winter, and as good as new.
The range also includes 7/8, cropped and knee length shorts in a huge variety of colours for summer.

TheBullfinch · 09/10/2021 01:04

They look great online but the reality is cheap polyester.

I recently ordered two dresses from them but sent them straight back as the fabric was awful. Online, the print looked bright, crisp and clear. In reality the print was dull and almost a 'marl' effect so quite faded and cheap looking.

The cut was good though and there were bust darts and shaped seams in the body.

Actually yes - while the dress I ordered was awful, I will be ordering some of these as my colleague wears them and they look great.

This! I hadn't realised my crops were the Bengaline ones but these are the same as I referred to in my post. They are fab. I'm going to get the three quarter length ones now I'm back in the office.
catsandhens · 09/10/2021 13:14

some of the clothes are good some arent. They arent the greatest fabrics, but as others have said neither are shops such as mint velvet. I do tend to go to them for some tops, and I find some of my most complimented clothes are roman tops, but I tend to send about half back because it doesnt suit me. But if you pick and choose then they do have some nice stuff. Their customer service etc is fine, I have no issues with returns, get refunds quickly and their stuff turns up quickly.
