What to wear to be comfortable but stylish?

I’m 46 perimenopausal and have put on weight around middle over the past year. Not eaten so well since wfh but hoping to address this now.

I’m going through my wardrobe and pretty much everything is too tight. I’m being ruthless and charity shopping anything I can. I just want to start again with a few nice clothes, not loads of tat that makes me look like a stuffed sausage!

I realise it could take time to rebuild my wardrobe so for now I just want to focus on a look for at home/school run/weekends etc. I’d like to look modern not frumpy but keep it simple and most of all comfortable. I’ve always worn skinny jeans but today I put a pair on and felt squashed and horrible. I do like leggings for comfort but realise they’re not the most stylish things.

I’m 5’3”, size 12 but heading past a 12. Have always been pear shaped but now more apple.

Just had a look on Next as this is easy for me to have delivered & there are hundreds of jeans to choose from. Could anyone of a similar size & age please tell me what you wear ie jeans/leggings and what style suits you?

Type in 'beige monochrome outfits' into google images

All colours look lovely in monochrome

But beige
White
And black are always classy and look expensive
