Perfumes that last

I went on holiday over the summer and everyone seemed to be wearing perfume that lingered beautifully. Does anyone have recommendations for a perfume (or a brand) that would do this? I have bought Serge Lutens before and that was fairly good, but they discontinued the scent I liked.

The website Fragrantica.com has longevity ratings for the extensive perfumes they cover. They are based on user ratings but it is a really popular site and most have hundreds of ratings which I find true for the 15 or so perfumes I own. It is a great site overall; if you look for your discontinued SL scent you might get some leads via the reviews or ‘this reminds me of’ function.

Yes fragrantica is a good place to start, I always ask people what they're wearing if it smells lovely!

Miller Harris scents always seem to last beautifully on my skin. They are expensive but you get them at tkmaxx the odd time, I got one last week for a tenner and it's lovely.

A few of my longer lasting favourites (all are quite strong/distinctive I think) are:

Black orchid by Tom Ford
Aromatics elixir (Clinique) - sadly I love this more on other people than on myself
Stella
Narciso Rodriguez- the one in the pink bottle (black box)
Ffern summer

Which serge lutens did you like? I find his last well and have quite a few of them, the fleurs d'oranger is beautiful in summer

Thank you both!

@ouchmyfeet How funny that you mention Aromatics Elixir and Narciso Rodriguez, there are about the only two perfumes I have found that stick for me! But I'm not a huge fan of AE, and NR had it's time and place and now it reminds me too much of the past. I'll look into those others!

On the cheaper range I find M&S Florentyne lasts very well and some of the Avon perfumes like Far Away.

FindingMeno · 08/10/2021 11:37

More expensive, Samsara.

I wear Creed - Love in white and it can last all day. But it's £££.

LookdeepintotheParka · 08/10/2021 13:12

I find my Perfume Parlour dupes last longer than the original versions! Particularly Jo Malone fragrances and such like.

Otherwise the longest lasting perfumes I have are by Chanel (I wear Coco, Coco Mademoiselles and Gabrielle Essence)

Checking out Fragrantica for longevity of fragrance is good shout!

JaceLancs · 08/10/2021 14:47

All guerlain perfumes seem to last longer on me than others

Cas112 · 08/10/2021 15:04

Versace - Crystal noir
Armarni - My Way

MercedesBenz · 08/10/2021 15:30

Black opium lasts on me
I can get wafts of it all day

Also Venezia ,
Chanel allure too but it’s been a long time since I wore that

catzrulz · 08/10/2021 15:33

Poeme by Lancome. Lasts all day and there is rarely a day when someone doesn't ask what scent I'm wearing.

SalsaLove · 08/10/2021 15:35

4160 Tuesdays have some gorgeous perfumes with excellent lasting power. You can get a sample selection box for about £25.

XingMing · 08/10/2021 15:36

Chergui is my favourite of the SL scents, and that lasts well.

WellTidy · 08/10/2021 17:06

Chanel coco mademoiselle used to stay put on me all day, but this was mid 2000s - I haven’t worn it for years

Lots of Chanel used to linger on me now that I think of it - number 5, allure, cristalle - but again, I haven’t worn them for almost 20 years

The original Vera Wang is my go to now for something that lingers

ouchmyfeet · 08/10/2021 17:20

Yes I agree re both Chanel and guerlain, I guess basically you get what you pay for OP!!

MintyGreenDream · 08/10/2021 17:35

Delina by Parfums de Marly is stunning. The only perfume I've ever known to have a tiny hint of rhubarb in it.

PaulHollywoodsLowHangingFruit · 08/10/2021 18:28

Coco by Chanel.

Geamhradh · 08/10/2021 18:35

It depends on the notes. Citrussy summery scents won't last. Autumn winter spice will.
Bel Respiro by Chanel won't last because it's a fresh ozonic, and neither sadly does Paris-Deauville.
Guerlain don't do much in the way of light citrus/ozonics which is why theirs will last.
Colognes won't last- which is why Perfume Parlour dupes of things like Jo Malone are so much longer lasting.
@MintyGreenDream 4160 do a Rhubarb and Citrus but like most of their perfumes, for me, there's too much going on. I only really love Ealing Green. The rest smell like a 4 year old has mixed all her mum's stuff together. They get a lot of love on here and I have truly tried to like them but just can't!
