Drugstore foundation

I'm getting married a week today (🎉) and I'm looking for a good drugstore foundation for the big day.

I'm super pale and my skin is mostly alright, occasional spots and redness at my nose/cheeks but is overall fine. I think my skin type is normal/dry.

Any recommendations? I've heard Nars Sheer Glow is good but looking for any other recommendations too as it's really expensive to buy and then not use or like!

Ideally looking for something full coverage/buildable as I want my skin to look fab in pictures Grin

I think the Boots No7 Hydraluminous foundation is meant to be a dupe of something high end and I think it's a Nars one but not sure.

It's very good though and I'd recommend, it's around £15.

babachic · 07/10/2021 20:23

@Bumbl thank you! I've never heard of that but had a look at reviews and it seems good, will see if I i can pick one up to try it out

You can get a wee sample from the No 7 girls , they will match you really well

Geamhradh · 07/10/2021 20:34

Hydraluminous is fab. My holy grail (and I've tried all high end) That said, for a special party last week I used Revlon colour stay (ivory, I'm v pale, Calico in Hydraluminous) and it was fabulous.
Nars Sheer Glow I found weird. It's not sheer and there's no glow!

GuckGuckDoose · 07/10/2021 20:35

I like the old classic Revlon Colourstay. L’Oréal Infallible Fresh Wear is also good if you can get a decent colour match and it suits your skin. Alternatively L’Oréal True Match is meant to be very like Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk which is widely regarded as one of the best ‘wedding foundations’.

Roominmyhouse · 07/10/2021 20:36

It’s not a drugstore one but the il makiage foundation is brilliant, the colour matching thing they do online is spot on. Really like the feel and coverage of it.

GuckGuckDoose · 07/10/2021 20:36

X post @Geamhradh! Glad I’m not the only one who likes it - just rediscovered it after YEARS - using it with Laura Mercier loose setting powder (glow) and the finish is amazing, very long lasting too.

I was gobsmacked! Got it for DD as her usual Clinique was out of stock and she likes a fuller coverage. It might be replacing Hydraluminous as my holy grail!
arrangeyourface · 07/10/2021 20:41

Just to check - when you say ‘drugstore’, are you in the US? I ask because this will obviously influence what people recommend.

babachic · 07/10/2021 20:45

@arrangeyourface no, Scotland! Just wasn't sure what else to call it, 'cheapish' foundation works just as well Grin

@GuckGuckDoose @Geamhradh how did i forget about colorstay!? This was one of my favourites for years, definitely will need to pick up a bottle! It's amazing

babachic · 07/10/2021 21:36

@forgotmyusernamagain oh I'll definitely need to try that! i'm awful with finding the right shade for me

@Roominmyhouse i haven't heard of this but off to have a look now, sounds great as colour matching is where I always go wrong Confused

IT cosmetics CC cream. It will change your life. Try it at Boots.

forgotmyusernamagain · 07/10/2021 21:39

Just read your post again .. was so caught up in the make up -

Missed the bloody wedding ! Congratulations
Have you everything else sorted , just make up to complete ?

Iloveabourbon2 · 07/10/2021 21:39

Foundation is a base so it's worth spending tbh. If you don't wear foundation usually you may struggle to find the correct shade.

Why don't you get some samples from make up counters?

I like Revlon from boots or Superdrug. Probably the best from the drug store.

babachic · 07/10/2021 22:07

@Ozanj sounds amazing! will have a wee look

@forgotmyusernamagain lol Grin

yes everything else is sorted, I was going to pay for makeup but it's all adding up and last time I got my makeup done it was very drag queen-esque and it put me off.

Had to decide between doing hair or makeup myself so went for makeup and now panicking!

Drugstore?

babachic · 07/10/2021 22:12

@Iloveabourbon2 i will definitely try to get some samples! I used to love makeup and wear a full face every day then the past few years been lucky to have a BB cream and mascara on

OP posts:
babachic · 07/10/2021 22:12

@Viviennemary something I can buy from Boots or Superdrug basically!

Estee Lauder is a really nice foundation and Elizabeth Arden it's just so underrated compared to some other make up brands.

Miseryisabutterfly · 07/10/2021 22:31

Vichy dermablend compact foundation is amazing. Covers every imperfection but looks natural and can be built up as much as necessary.

Miseryisabutterfly · 07/10/2021 22:34

Also IT cosmetics bye bye pores powder is brilliant for setting. I’m very tempted to try their cc cream now I’ve seen a pp mention it.

Clara91 · 07/10/2021 22:55

Revlon colourstay for dry skin is similar to Nars sheer glow. I use both.
