Help me buy a shirt to match this dress

Hello wise fashionistas . I’ve got a colour matching problem I’m struggling with. I’ve purchased this dress from Hope and ivy ( fab loving them for wedding guest dresses!)

Husband has a pale blue shirt he planned to wear but I just don’t think they sit nice side by side . ‘Blue and green never to be seen’ ?!

Anyway . I’m sending him out for a new outfit. What colours should he go for to compliment my dress .

Blue and green never to be seen

I think it will go fine with a blue blue shirt but that dress literally is blue and green so if you feel so strongly about them together surely it's not the dress for you.

Mustardbay · 07/10/2021 10:46

I think pale blue would be fine, that dress is lovely!

I know the dress is literally blue and green . I don’t live by the mantra but should it apply here ..

I don’t know. After 2 years in joggers and hoodies Ive just lost my confidence to style things!

That's the first time I've heard that couples wedding outfits need to complement each other !! Unless they are the B&G of course!!

Stylewannabee · 07/10/2021 11:00

Am I totally overthinking it?

Yes I think so. Nice dress btw

Hoppinggreen · 07/10/2021 11:02

I don’t understand why you have to match

Am I totally overthinking it?
Uh, yes. To a factor of 2. Your dress is literally blue and green together (and that style rule sounds like something my grandmother, who would be 102 if she were alive, would come out with), and it's really not necessary to coordinate your DH, although I'm sure he's a fine accessory in general. Let the poor man wear the shirt he already has, which will go fine! Grin

Ok I’m hearing you. It doesn’t look awful and no need to buy a new shirt. That’s one less job.

reviews other potentially pointless jobs on the to do list before the weekend

Thank you everyone

Really lovely dress OP.

SageRosemary · 07/10/2021 11:39

The dress is gorgeous. I'd put it with a white shirt and a tie that has some colour matching to the dress. Or, his blue shirt will be lovely if he's not wearing a tie.

Anycolourwilldo · 07/10/2021 11:42

I love it when the OP comes to a sensible conclusion and takes on board the feedback from posters. So satisfying!
Enjoy the wedding.
