I really love them, I want them, but they are £155. That wouldn’t be so much of a problem, but some of the reviews are terrible. They say the heel has completely worn down within three months. I walk a lot as well so they’re no good for me if they’re not good quality.
I really like the little details like the pearl bits at the top and the different textures of leather. They’re chunky and very feminine at the same time.
Has anyone seen anything like this that wears well?

DH bought some work shoes from there, and they went in the bin in under 6 months. Never seen shoes wear so badly.

I won't risk £155 on them.

PinkFootstool · 07/10/2021 09:50

Maybe get them reheeled immediately?

goose1964 · 07/10/2021 11:26

If you want hard wearing boots you need to stay away from fashion footwear and look at proper walk in boots/shoes . There are some nice looking ones here. www.gooutdoors.co.uk/walking/footwear/walking-boots/gen:womens/page2.html

Iamthewombat · 07/10/2021 11:29

Russell and Bromley do similar styles but at ambitious prices. The boots wear well though, and are nicely made.

Grin I expect the OP would have said if it was walking boots she was looking for. And I doubt she'd have been looking at boots with pearl details! I wear my walking boots every day to walk the dog, but I wouldn't be wearing them out shopping, down the pub (unless mid-hike) or on tge school run. It is reasonable to expect decent wear out of a pair of £155 boots, however fashionable they are! I've got several pairs of smart boots that I've had for years and are still going strong.

Have you looked at Fly London boots, OP? They are sublimely comfortable and wear very well. They aren't always the most waterproof in very wet conditions though.

TheCanyon · 07/10/2021 12:19

Is redoute have very similar boots for half that price.

Snailhaterz2 · 07/10/2021 12:35

I went off Dune when I bought a pair of patent leather brogues from them, took them on holiday for a week, when I only wore them indoors in the evening, and the shine wore off because someone's dog lay on my feet for a couple of evenings.. The shop passed my complaint onto head office, who refused to do anything as "there was no fault in the manufacturing process". Never shopped there since.

I have a pair of PIKOLINOS bots and can't fault the quality

PumpkinGal · 07/10/2021 13:31

I'd get these and add my own pearl details

Okay, I love these boots, but…
UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 07/10/2021 13:37

Are those the kind of stupid shoes you're meant to get resoled immediately, but they don't tell you because you're supposed to just know and if you don't you're not the right sort of customer...

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 07/10/2021 13:45

Oh no they're not! They're rubber soled! Just crap quality then, if they fall apart!

MrsRubyMonday · 07/10/2021 13:48

I have a pair from Dorothy Perkins that I wear all the time, no sign of breaking down yet. Mine are plainer but that's what I wanted, it took about two years to find a pair I liked that weren't overly embellished, I wouldn't pay that amount for a pair likely to fail pretty quickly.

LookItsMeAgain · 07/10/2021 14:24

What about these:
www.clarks.co.uk/c/Orinoco-Spice/p/26143801
They are similar to the ones you posted. I have two pairs of them and I can tell you that the heel on the older of the two pairs still hasn't worn down yet. They are incredibly comfortable and really hard wearing.

Nuffaluff · 07/10/2021 14:34

@Snailhaterz2. @BrilloPaddy @MrsRubyMonday @UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme Thank you, I’m not going to buy them. It’s a waste of money. Can’t believe they’re charging so much for something that is such poor quality! They are so very pretty though.
I have some lovely practical boots from Celtic and Co and they were about the same price. They don’t do anything like this though.
Those pikolinos are nice @HCHQ. I remember I had some shoes from there years ago and they lasted well.
Will look at Russell and Bromley too and Dr Martens and Fly London, so thank you for the suggestions.

OP posts:
Janaih · 07/10/2021 14:38

I love the style of Dune boots but they are overpriced for the quality which isn't great.

Like a pp I have clarks orinoco in black and brown and they have lasted years.

If I could afford it I'd buy Russel and Bromley boots!

iwannascream · 07/10/2021 14:38

I saw boots like these in TK Maxx the other day and they were about £60, have you had a look at their website or in a store. Might be worth a look

RobertaFirmino · 07/10/2021 22:35

Another vote for Clarks Orinoco, I've got them in brown and black, still going after 4 and 3 years respectively.

Can I ask if you've had any this season? I was looking at them last night but the recent reviews say they are really narrow and people are struggling with them even in the wide fit?
Girlintheframe · 08/10/2021 07:25

Fly London do gortex boots, completely waterproof. I have a pair for work but love them so much that I wear them outside of work too.

VitalsStable · 08/10/2021 07:26

Air & Grace do some lovely ones like that. They're v comfortable and hard wearing.

Frauhubert · 08/10/2021 08:15

I have the same style Dune boots, just without the pearls, i bought them in the sale last year, I paid £90
They did not fall apart, and i wore them a lot in the winter/spring. However they went ‘baggy’ very quickly, as in they don’t sit snuggly around the foot looking all nice. They totally lost shape and just look wrong. I know that leather expands but i’ve never had a problem like this with any other leather boots. I have a slim foot and ankle

TiddleTaddleTat · 08/10/2021 09:33

I can't fault my DMs -live in them in autumn and winter - pricey at first but very comfy and nice thick warm soles. I like that they are somewhere between walking and fashion type boots, good all rounders.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 08/10/2021 12:58

I saw these and thought of you OP!
www.kurtgeiger.com/women/shoes/boots/ankle/vegan-trekker-lace-up-black-other-polyurethane-kg-kurt-geiger

But they aren't leather. I think KG do frequent discount codes though :)
