Can I wear this for a wedding?

I am going to a wedding at the end of the month and trying to decide what to wear. I have put weight on so need to buy something new if this outfit doesnt work and because I've put weight on I'm struggling to find anything i feel would look good.

Anyway, self pitying moan over. Would this dress be suitable if i get black heels, new black belt and a clutch bag? It's not the best photo but hopefully you can tell.

I'm not a main part of the wedding. It's my husband's friend who is getting married so I'm unlikely to be in many photos. I only say the to mean I dont need to look super fancy, i obviously still want to look nice!

The wedding is in a converted oak barn attached to an old country ish inn

Yes I think so. It’s a lovely dress and it fits you well.

CorrBlimeyGG · 06/10/2021 16:08

It's fine but very very bland. You have a lovely shape, I'm sure you could find better.

PinkFootstool · 06/10/2021 16:09

You look lovely. No need to buy new outfits if shopping will make you unhappy.

Add in a nice pop of colour with jewellery, bag, shoes, jacket, whatever works for you!

LakeShoreD · 06/10/2021 16:11

It looks really good on you and absolutely it’s appropriate for a country barn/inn wedding. I’m not wild about the shoes you’ve paired with it but you’ve said new ones anyway. Have fun!

HappyBus · 06/10/2021 16:12

Inthink it's lovely and you look great in it.

Vicliz24 · 06/10/2021 16:13

It's lovely for a wedding. Definitely get new shoes tho or even as it will almost be November some boots .

Sally872 · 06/10/2021 16:13

Lovely dress! I would wear it to wedding.

AdaColeman · 06/10/2021 16:20

Yes, that will be lovely for a wedding.
Are you going to wear a hat? What jewellery are you planning on wearing?

I think that's how I feel about it too for a wedding, a bit meh. Not sure I have the energy or inclination to find something more interesting though at the moment which isn't great.

At least I've got a hair appointment for the week before so my hair should look half decent

Go for some bolder shoes and clutch and you'll look great.

I had bought the dress with heeled boots in mind for a kind of afternoon or not too dressy evening out in mind. Not thought about those for a wedding though

Dress looks good, shoes are horrible though. Heeled black ankle boots would be perfect for a winter wedding.

JuneOsborne · 06/10/2021 16:25

I'd wear that in a flash, you look lovely op, a real Bobby dazzler as my nan would have said.

Definitely need new shoes and clutch. I was probably thinking black but any thoughts on style or colour anyone?

I think it's fine for a wedding. You might feel under-dressed in it now but once you're wearing smart shoes, a clutch and some jewellery you'll be all set.

Most wedding outfits are about accessorizing, IME.

Gloss black court shoes will look great
Zebracat · 06/10/2021 16:52

Boots, not shoes, doesnt matter what type or colour as long as they make your heart sing!

TaffyandTeenyTaffy · 06/10/2021 16:58

Lovely... just needs accessorising a little. Maybe add a wrap or pashmina?

AdaColeman · 06/10/2021 16:58

Perhaps a belt and a clutch in a bright colour, (turquoise?) and black shoes, as they would be more useful?

RuthW · 06/10/2021 17:06

Yes will look lovely with a fascinator and bright buttonhole

Derbee · 06/10/2021 17:14

I think you look lovely! No need to go out and stress about finding something new.

Hot pink always works well with leopard print Smile

Lovely dress , you look fab

DFOD · 06/10/2021 19:46

Wish I looked like that if I “had put on weight” ! It’s a v flattering dress …. maybe a wide gold or bronze belt and bag accessories? Or suede? Treat yourself to some fab boots or shoes - I don’t think black shoes and belt would do it justice
