Anyone seen a nice winter dressing gown?

I’m due any day now and fancied getting a nice new dressing gown for night feeds etc but can’t find anything I like!

I want something warm and cosy but not hugely bulky in a dark colour but ideally not black. Possibly with a hood, or at least with the ability to pull the chest area across. I like it to come more or less to the ankles (I’m
5ft 3). Has anyone seen anything that fits the bill?!

Budget ideally around £50 but I could stretch it for the right thing.

I like the look of this one from m and S. Am hoping it’s cosy but not bulky as I’m fairly short and find a big fleece dressing gown too much. www.marksandspencer.com/cosy-knit-wrap/p/clp60503664?intid=mobile_app_pdp_share

I have this one have been browsing at M&S and found this: [[https://www.marksandspencer.com/hooded-long-dressing-gown/p/clp60458400?intid=mobile_app_pdp_share]] and it’s literally one of my favourite possessions! I adore it and have bought it as a gift for friends who love it too. It washes and dries brilliantly. I also have a white co one which I never, ever wear as it is nowhere near as comfy as the M&S one. Good luck with the baby!

This is a very dangerous thread for me. I have six dressing gowns and thanks to @mummeeee am considering a seventh.

Seven wonders. Seven Harry Potter books. Seven is a good number.

Although if I get anymore DH might file.for divorce!

BlueShirtGirl · 17/10/2021 20:05

I saw a navy one in morrisons of all places today! It had a hood I think and was fairly long.

I like that one @mummeeee but I’m not sure it would be warm enough for me. I’ve ordered the white company one and I’ll let you know what it’s like when it arrives (I also ordered some coordinating cashmere bedsocks 🙊)

I was coming to say this. Pretty sure it was long. Was a lovely shade of navy and felt very cosy. Definitely looked more expensive than the ( l think) £18 price tag.

Have you been checking the men’s section too? More likely to get a decent length and a dark colour I expect.

BakeOffRewatch · 17/10/2021 21:11

What about the seraphine maternity? Their stuff is super soft to touch and cosy. www.seraphine.com/en-gb/search/?q=dressing+gown

Have you considered cardigans? I lived in their breastfeeding ones. A cotton breastfeeding T-shirt, maternity/post partum leggings and a cardigan was my uniform. www.seraphine.com/en-gb/grey-cotton-cashmere-waterfall-maternity-cardigan/

This was probably the closest I’ve found but I saw it in real life and the colour is nothing like the picture, it’s a horrible pink.

Material wise I’d l prefer velour but am open to suggestions apart from towelling.

Tesco dressing gowns are exactly like this, they do them in different colours each year. I’ve had mine for 4 years, DH 2 years. Really really warm, can put off putting heating on. www.next.co.uk/search?w=Florence%20Fred%20dressing%20gown&isort=score&af=#1_214

Sainsburys do similar too but I’ve not bought one tuclothing.sainsburys.co.uk/search?text=Dressing+gown&clickOrigin=header%3Asearch%3Amanual

My Tangerine Dream dressing gown from Joules is as you describe and fabulous.

whitershadeofpale · 18/10/2021 13:40

There’s something so nice about putting on a warm dressing gown in winter isn’t there?!

I’ve got a few of there bits but wanted a dressing gown more for the evenings/ night feeds.

In fact I’ve just ordered this www.seraphine.com/en-gb/two-tone-luxury-shawl-wrap/ in the sale and hope it will be nice and snuggly for me and the baby.
They also have the Rosie in charcoal , I have a previous incarnation and it's going strong at least 5 years later. www.marksandspencer.com/rosie-fleece-dressing-gown/p/clp60502487?color=DARKGREY
Me too and I still love it .

BelleOfTheProvince · 18/10/2021 16:35

Nice stone and grey ones in next today. Bit disappointed that I didn't wait for them and got my Etsy one as they are softer.

Starlightstarbright1 · 18/10/2021 16:37

I saw a lovely fluffy one it was either h&m or new look. Sorry was shopping for something else don't need one but was tempted

MrsBerthaRochester · 18/10/2021 17:11

I bought the Rosie one and I love it so much I'm tempted to get the grey one too!!.

Greyhairwarmheart · 18/10/2021 18:37

Try Landsend. They do a very cosy fleece dressing gown. I've had mine for about 20 years.

Puppylucky · 18/10/2021 18:49

Can I just say thanks to the PP who highlighted the yak wool ones from etsy They are beautiful and a black one is winging its way to me now :-)

yellowDahlia · 19/10/2021 14:09

@puppylucky am interested to know how you get on with it! These caught my eye too as I want something warm but not bulky and preferably natural fibres. I wonder if the PP already has one and if that's why she's recommended? Anyway, I hope it's a good buy!

whitershadeofpale · 23/10/2021 21:53

In case anyone is interested my white company gown arrived and is lovely. Warm but not bulky. It’s very long (to my ankles) which I like but some people may prefer a shorter length.
