Plus Size Gym Clothes

koalaroobear · 05/10/2021 20:36

I'm hoping the wise collective of Mumsnet could help me find some new gym clothes! I've just signed up to a new gym and would like to treat myself to a new outfit.

I am 6ft1, size 22-24 bottom, size 20-22 top, and I prefer dark colours. I'm looking for active leggings, a sports bra and a couple of tank tops.

I've tried ASOS but couldn't really find anything. I'm happy to spend up to about £100 for a whole outfit.

Sainsbury’s gym wear is very good

CovidCorvid · 05/10/2021 20:49

Lululemon?

TotheletterofthelawTHELETTER · 05/10/2021 20:52

JD Sports online stocks plus size. I’ve got some fab high waisted running leggings by Adidas in a 22 from there.

StiggyZardust · 05/10/2021 21:10

Nike have a good plus size range

TomBradysLeftKneecap · 05/10/2021 21:11

Do you have Athleta in the UK? In the Gap/OldNavy/Banana Republic group.

HundredMilesAnHour · 05/10/2021 21:15

M&S's Good Move own brand. Washes well too.

LaurieFairyCake · 05/10/2021 21:18

Definitely the M and S stuff - that stuff just won't die

I wore the same top and leggings and hoodie for 3 sessions a week for 2 years when I was a size 20

dementedpixie · 05/10/2021 21:21

Boobydoo for sports bras
Curvissa for gum clothes

secretnurse · 05/10/2021 21:23

Sainsbury's or Primark, seriously good gym wear for pennies!

koalaroobear · 05/10/2021 21:24

Thanks everyone, given me a lot more places to have a look! M&S looks promising from a cursory look.

Nike do good high waisted leggings.

Panache underwired sports bra is excellent

SuperStarRose · 06/10/2021 14:20

You could try Sweaty Betty size XXL as a few leggings come in that size

When I was slimmer their power leggings were my all time favourites. I had them in 3 colours!

I'm going back to the gym after 2 1/2 years and severe depression having put on a lot of weight, I just want to feel comfortable in myself even if I'm not totally comfortable in the gym.

Agree with the M&S recommendation. It's good stuff and you can basic block colours plus more colourful stuff as you prefer. Washes v well. Good luck OP - get stuck in and enjoy yourself.

Nike have a good plus size range and have a sale on at the moment

Thank you! I've committed to a 12 week block of boxing classes, I'm excited, I love the feeling of being fit and can't wait to have that again

I get leggings from here at the moment as I like the patterns www.rainbowsandsprinkles.co.uk/
Sizes are generous, the material is thick so doesn't go see through when you squat etc..
I really struggle to find tops I like though - ones in big sizes never seem to fit around my boobs!

BloodyBack · 06/10/2021 20:05

I have some from fabletics, I don't love the membership stuff but it is decent quality and I did get 2 pairs of leggings for £24 at first so it was worth it for me, I cancelled after the second month because I then felt I had enough.
