Help me style this hedgehog dress

Help I have a first ever non-zoom meeting with my work team and having a confidence crisis. Comolicsted by the fact it's a bit of an away day with a walk outside at a nature reserve so I need to be presentable for the inside element and then warm for outside! I have this lovely hedgehog dress and am hoping to layer with leggings and a long proper wool cardigan but don't know where to start on colours. I'll probable wear these boots for warmth/waterproofness and take welly boots for the walk bit. Would dark brown be too heavy? Any suggestions for a good quality cardigan upto £50-60? Know I wont get cashmere for that but hopefully merino lambswool?

I think green would be nice...but also cream. I think at that budget you might be looking at a mix...Next seem to have a good choice.

MerryMarigold · 03/10/2021 05:03

Yeah I wouldn't go dark brown with a green dress. The red is nice and perhaps drop the boots if you're taking wellies anyway.

beccahamlet · 03/10/2021 05:07

Where is the hedgehog dress from? It's quite wacky. I like it!

MerryMarigold · 03/10/2021 05:09

I'd be wary of dressing too warmly for indoors if that's where the majority of the day is. I would be warm enough with tights and the dress indoors (no cardigan) and then a decent coat/ wellies/ boots for outside, especially if it's raining. I'm assuming it's not a hike for several hours?!

This is actually the time of year that hedgehogs are hibernating, so...

Mucky1 · 03/10/2021 05:14

I wore a Poppsy out last night for a first "dressed up" night in ages and got loads of brilliant feedback 🙌🙌
I wore tan boots and a tan bag I don't think you can go wrong with your choice really.

I think the dark brown would look quite nice and autumnal. Fat face have some lovely cardigans in at the moment (and 20% off). This one is nice: www.fatface.com/women/clothing/knitwear/suzie-cardigan/960369.html

I love that dress! Where’s it from?

LorenzoVonMatterhorn · 03/10/2021 07:36

I always het great comments from my Popsy dresses too but fuck me the fabric is awful and looks old fast.

Are you suggesting she doesnt go to the work meeting and naps instead?
Fcuk38 · 03/10/2021 07:47

This dress is from popsy- I wouldn’t get excited though ladies as a precious poster has said a few washes and the dresses bobble worse than any £4 primark t shirt- this is a thirty something pound dress- and look shite. But it’s ok because popsy say you can use a debobbler.

I just bought this dress but the pockets gape at the front - are they meant to? Also the torso part is so long, having the elastic sitting on my waist means the top part muffins over and looks a bit strange. Confused
I want to love popsy as they are UK made etc, fun prints and always have pockets (yay!) but they would be better if they used cotton fabric and didn't look as though they were sewn by a Year 8 DT class.

Kittykate15 · 08/10/2021 18:16

@Felyne I know what you mean about quality I wouldn't mind paying a tiny bit more for a better quality fabric, but the other one I have hasn't really bobbled despite fairly heavy wear. Sorry to hear it doesn't work for you. Mine arrived today and I love it. Think I have a fairly long body so waist tucks in at just the right point. Skims over the bits I want it too and pockets don't gape particularly. Think the different styles suit different shapes. I'm a size 16 and was expecting to prefer v neck gathered style but that made me look bigger somehow than this style.

I think I'm going to keep it, hedgehogs are special to me so I really want to. I might just stitch the pockets a little bit or something. I don't think I can make them look worse than they already do! Grin
That dress looks lovely on you.

LavenderYellow · 08/10/2021 18:20

Looks nice @Kittykate15
How tall are you? I'm looking for something that length but I'm a shortie

Kittykate15 · 08/10/2021 18:33

@Felyne thankyou :-) it is a lovely print and colour. I think they do alterations including taking pockets out.
@LavenderYellow thankyou :-) I'm 5'7 so tall ish.

Have a look at Woolovers for natural fibres - wool, wool/cotton mixes. Great calue and machine washable.
