Skin protection from computer screens

I spend around 14 hours a day currently in front of a computer screen 7 days a week. Obviously not a great work life balance, but one of my worries is how I can protect my skin. Is it enough to use a good sun cream?

Yes from what I’ve read but I turn the blue light off on my apple products, I don’t know if you can on a pc. You can buy screens to put over the screen too.

What? Sun cream to protect you from a computer screen?

off to google

MaverickDanger · 02/10/2021 21:01

A dermatologist told me that as long as you’re 12-15 inches away from the screen, you should be fine. Better for your posture too.

What? Why? Am I frying my face without knowing?

Use an app to reduce the blue glare. Twilight or flux are both good for android and pc. Not sure it make a difference to skin care but it's good for the eye glare which I suppose would reduce squinting and eventually wrinkles.

I didn't think this was a thing since the cathode ray tube died a death...

You can get primers with blue light protection. I use a simple Max Factor one. I’m nearly 60 and am pretty much wrinkle free.

I also avoid the sun as have always come out in heat rash. Awful when young but now I’m reaping the rewards!

I’ve read good things about iron oxides as protection so maybe look into a good tinted mineral bb cream? And blue light glasses for the eyes and skin around the eyes?

WTAF???? Is there anything I don't need to worry about?

Mrstwiddle · 03/10/2021 00:57

I bought a blue screen filter for my iPad, it also protects the glass. No idea if it actually works or not

I’ve never heard of needing sun screen in front of a screen!
