Dress riding up

SC10 · 01/10/2021 15:55

I bought a knee length dress online which I can see now is 100% polyester. When I wore it yesterday, with a M&S slip underneath, it kept riding up especially at the front.

I would like to be able to wear it again without the same problem, can anyone suggest what I can do to stop the same thing happening again please?

Have you washed the dress yet. Fabric conditioner usually helps solve the problem?

Either weight the hem or i think I read spraying your tights with hairspray helps keep a dress from riding up

Try it without the slip?

LakeShoreD · 01/10/2021 16:30

Is the slip because it’s see through? Are you sure you want to keep it?

If it’s a static thing then rubbing moisturiser on your tight clad legs might help. Also, try a safety pin concealed in the hem, something to do with earthing the static.

Thank you all so much for all your suggestions, I am going to try them all. I only wore the slip because I usually do under skirts and dresses but will try it without.

You could try rubbing the inside with a dryer sheet. This did help with a static-y pair of trousers of mine.

SC10 · 01/10/2021 17:38

Thank you, I will try that.

A safety pin on the inside of the hem helps if it is static causing the issue. A slip would normally sort static though so I wonder if it is the fit, is it tight?

SC10 · 01/10/2021 17:50

No, it is a loose style, but it clung against my legs like glue , and the worst thing was I only looked down and noticed it after I had walked quite far away from home and I felt so embarrassed!

This happens to me with dresses and tights and drives me mad. I've tried Tumblr dryer sheets, hairspray and body lotion but I still get it! Any other tips?
