Wore jeans for first time in 2 years

And really didnt like it!

I used to wear them all the time, for most of my adult life, never questioned it, then went to live in the mountains so swapped to waterproofs, cargo's and leggings for yrs.

Moved back out of the wilds last year and am still trying to re-establish my preferred style, but been wearing skirts and mint velvet leggings since, through the pandemic.

So I put my jeans on, great fit, etc, but really hated the feel of stiff denim around my hips. They made me feel like a stiff, wide (and I am slim) cardboard cut out, and are so heavy in comparison to what I usually wear. But I had never noticed this before, it was a revelation!

Anyone else slipped out of the rhythm of wearing something and then going back to it wondering wtf?

Agree 100% about denim. What an overrated fabric. I don’t own jeans any more. Leggings and a skirt all the way.

I’m with you. I’ve been wearing sports wear pretty much non stop for the past 18 months and I hate the odd occasion where I need to look presentable (and be warm) and have to put jeans on.
I’m struggling to change it though really. Short of buying a whole new wardrobe!

Chucked my jeans away too! Dresses or sports wear only now. It is so freeing!

I love jeans, just started wearing again. I like the structured fabric. Bit hard for wfh all day though.

It's weird, because I always just considered them a constant - until I quit for a while and now can't go back. They certainly are the most popular clothing of the past 100 yrs, I dare say many of us just gravitate to them unquestioningly.

I used to always be on the search for th perfect pair, but now, after around 30 yrs of searching I kind of realise I never found them because I don't think they suit me, I suppose theyre just not for me.

That said, they look amazing on other people!

I feel exactly the same. More likely to wear black trousers now

Claudia84 · 30/09/2021 21:34

They do look nice but urgh they feel so rough now. I reckon a decent pair would cost me over £100 and I could get a lovely day dress or two for that. I just need my brain to do the adjustment!

bridgeofslides · 30/09/2021 21:39

I can't wear them indoors too stiff and uncomfortable. Not bought any for years and the ones I still have are jeggings.

Pheasantlysurprised · 01/10/2021 00:06

I didnt wear them indoors - that's seriously hardcore Grin but I did pretty much plan every outfit around them... shoes, coats, etc.

I feel slightly lost now, but really don't like them and can't go back. I always felt trussed up and uncomfortable but never found a better solution. Skirts and stuff are the best idea and I really suit them, just finding it hard to get the coat part right!

I love wearing jeans. I wear them all day and around the house and lockdown had no effect on that. But I only wear low rise. Higher rise are effectively a corset for me and very uncomfortable and restrictive.
