Wide leg trousers? If so, full length or cropped?

49, size 12, looking for going-out trousers. Probably wear with heels (or possibly white trainers if it was a more casual night out).

I look OK in skinny jeans but keep reading they're a no-go, but other (new?!) styles of jeans seem to look very mumsy on me, hence looking at wide leg trousers. Are they remotely on trend at the moment?

perhaps stick with what you know suits you and that you like regardless of fast turning trends? I mean, if we are honest, the whole wide/mom thing will soon date and we will be back to square one!

I'm only 5ft 2 so would never wear wide leg cropped, I've tried but they make me look shorter, I do like wide leg trousers as they suit my inverted triangle shape, I wear them long with flats or trainers.

Meant to say, I have a couple of pairs of these www.marksandspencer.com/high-waist-wide-leg-trousers/p/clp60274484?color=BLACK#intid=prodColourId-60274484 which are definitely smart enough for a night out. Look good with heels, boots, whatever really.

They do them in petite, extra long etc. Very comfortable. They do come up big though, so if size down if you think they might work for you.

M&S has a good choice starting at £15 and, IMO, look good full length with heels or chunky trainers and feel more dressy and elegant than skinnies.

I think it's more about your ankles than your height. I'm 5'3, heavy around the thighs but with rather fine ankles if I do say so myself, and I bloody love the cropped wide leg trend. But I'm fussy about getting the hemline in the right spot (top of the ankle for me, no higher). I've also noticed more full length wide legs around lately (sorry, can't remember where) so I expect they'll be making a comeback shortly.
