Another M&S thread BUT this time a question about a dress I THINK might be nice (but not sure)

Ignoring the silly pose what do you think of it?

I’m 45, tall size 10/12. Wanted something for a few nice family and social events I have this autumn.

I’m aiming to channel Keira Knightley in Atonement but may end up looking like the Jolly Green Giant.

In the first picture the model looks as if she is trying to have a discreet wee.

I like the cut of the dress and the colour (there is a but coming on here) but the sleeves look as if they have been cut off a man’s shirt and sewn on. For me, a three quarter wider sleeve would be far more flattering. Personally, I would not want such a high neck either.

I think it's lovely actually. Hope it looks nice on. M&S seem to have a lot of nice dresses recently, they're much better than a couple of years ago.

What on earth is the model doing in the first photo though? When would anyone ever make that pose in real life?!

Love the colour but the sleeves I think let it down. Like other people I’d recommend you have a look at Ghost. They did something in a very similar colour not so long ago and they hang beautifully.

I love it. But agree with everyone else if it's not silk it'll look and feel horrible. What a shame. It is so difficult to find anything in nice fabric nowadays.

I was about to say it looks just like a Ghost dress and then saw it is a Ghost collaboration.

I wouldn't based on the fabric. If it was silk then yes. Nice colour.

Actually the fabric was ok in the end, not too shiny, not TOO much of a praline triangle feel about it and the bias cut shape was nice and very flattering; what I didn’t like was the top half, it has a slight sort of smocking effect over the bust which made it bouff out weirdly and combined with the high neck made it very matronly (and as someone with teeny tiny boobs, looking matronly is quite an achievement…) So back it goes! Was worth a try though. I will keep looking for my holy grail emerald green bias cut dress…

I’m too pot bellied and big titted for it but if you aren’t, it probably looks nice. I’d be wary of the sweaties though.

I love the colour and had an M&S dress in a similar fabric that hung beautifully. But not sure about the cut of your dress, it looks like it hangs oddly below the bust at the sides, but it's not photographed very well, so difficult to tell.
