Waterproof childs coat

Hi, the weather last few days has highlighted that my eldest girl needs a new coat - she's probably size 9/10.
When I find nice long coats - they are rarely waterproof, yet all the waterproofs seem to be jackets or just over the bum rather than a nice coat to thigh/knee level.
We walk to school and it makes it much easier if I could find something better to stop the whinging about wet thighs and legs...
I found the trespass tilly coat - but its not waterproof, but the waterproof fame coat looks too short when you see it on a model...
Can anyone help? Oh and budget is £50 max... Thanks in advance

This sort of thing?

Or maybe better to search waterproof parka.

jillandhersprite · 28/09/2021 19:21

thanks its a bit short though... and also even though it comes in age 9 its a bit small child style...
what would work is something that is this kind of length but it waterproof - we had something like this last year but the rain would soak through too quick on back and shoulders...

This is knee length and a good brand www.trespass.com/fame-girls-waterproof-parka-jacket#color_code=Cosmic+Blue+

olivehater · 28/09/2021 20:39

Lighthouse clothing do lots of nice raincoats.

LightOfAThousandStars · 28/09/2021 22:17

Lands End, their parka styles are longer

evtheria · 28/09/2021 22:17

Kuling do longer ones in unisex colours and patterns. DS has a 3/4 length properly waterproof raincoat off them (but with cosy teddy lining for autumn), parents usually comment on it as you don’t see that length often in kids’ rainwear.

It looks a lot like this one but I can’t be sure! except his isn’t yellow:

There’s actually one in Zara Girls but it doesn’t state how watertight it is:

Marks and spencer stormwear range have a good selection of different length cots.

Thankyou for the links - we've looked through them.
They are all just covering bum length, so none are the ideal long length - even though they call themselves 'long'! (Which isn't helped by the fact she's tall for her age!!!)
We've had a chat and she's decided that wet legs is going to be better than wet shoulders so am probably going to get the Trespass Fame coat ordered...

Found this.
Maybe could find something similar to Chuck on a and off

DinosaurOfFire · 29/09/2021 21:13

What about a pair of waterproof over trousers for walking in the rain? They tend to pack up small too.

Mummydoctor · 29/09/2021 21:28

I know it’s above your budget but we have always used Polarn O Pyret for
Coats as they are properly waterproof and excellent quality. Just found they also now sell a longer length.

I was moaning to a friend and she had a coat she's passed onto us which is like the long length parkas that have been linked to and we were going to try that one from trespass. Will see how it goes as it looks like another wet week coming up.
If she is still soaked on the thigh and legs and unhappy then I think I will try that decathlon one.
I can't believe how hard it's been to find - I have a lovely proper waterproof long coat I bought years ago from Joules and she has said she just wants a version of what I have.
In a strange way her current lightweight waterproof jacket, which is like these parkas I've been looking at is almost worse because the water just runs down the outside and drips onto legs - ok when it's showery and warm in September, but now it's getting wet and cold then wet legs are not nice to sit in when classrooms are colder because of the open windows...
