I have ash blonde hair with a few silvery highlights, pale skin and dark green eyes.
Wardrobe is a mix of greys, navy, sage green, teal, dark denim, bluey purple, fawn brown and a few black.

Never wear lime green, brights, pastels, mustard, burnt orange.

I had my colours done. I've dark brown hair with golden blonde bayalage, hazel eyes and freckles, tan easily. I'm a deep, warm autumn. Lots of beige, brown, red, tan, yellow, green and orange. I only wear indigo jeans. I don't own any black anything, can be a pain to choose non black options as it is a default with shoes/ handbags etc.

FloconDeNeige · 01/10/2021 06:36

I have light blonde hair, blue eyes and fair, cool-toned skin. I love colours but have to be careful and can’t wear anything very bright, neon, autumnal or black close to my face.

I mostly wear pastels, bluey reds, blues, pinks and most cool-toned colours in their muted version, so lavender rather than violet for e.g.

DH is the polar opposite; French from the med, olive-skinned, dark brown eyes, hair, beard and he is often found in neon, orange, yellow and various combos of the Brazilian flag colours (in summer anyway) and I always feel jealous that they look good on him and abysmal on me! I try to get round it with bright accessories, shoes etc.

JenniferWooley · 01/10/2021 06:48

Light auburn hair, a lockdown mistake but my colouring & the fact red hair is a family trait helps it look natural, blue eyes & pale skin. So avoid all reds/yellows/oranges/pinks. Wardrobe consists of black, navy, brown, khaki, green, teal, cream, beige & blue with a few bits of grey that came before the hair.

For going out out (remember that) I have a fabulous royal blue dress that looks amazing no matter what colour my hair is!

I'm very similar colouring and wear mostly navy/dark blue, khaki, leopard, teal and dark green, warm metallics, tan leather.

In winter when I'm paler I can get away with deep burgundy and purple. When I'm more tanned, lighter but subdued colours like nude and camel.

Spiindoctor · 01/10/2021 06:58

When I had colours done by House of Colour they take your hair back off your face so hair colour doesn't come into it (which I always thought was odd).

Was blondie brown at the time, grey brown now.
Suit autumn colours, rust, dark red, teal, gold, peach, cream not white or black.

MayorGundersonsDogRufus · 01/10/2021 07:05

Never had my colours done, but I have dark blonde hair (planning to go a bit blonder soon) and quite pale skin, but not porcelain. I wear blues, greens, white and grey generally, sometimes a bit of pink but I also like quite a bright orangey red colour - I'm not sure what you call it, but slightly salmon orange or terracotta - bright though.

Forrestttheout · 01/10/2021 07:57

dirty blonde hair, dull blue/grey eyes and fair skin although with a light tan after spending the last 8 years on the equator. I generally suit muted colours rather than bright or pastel so muted blues, pinks, oranges, yellows, greens. Bright colours wash me out completely and i'm yet to find a shade of red that works. For darker colours, denim blue works well, certain shades of navy and burgundy also work. Basically my clothes have to look like I bought a bright colour and washed it to many times.
White/cream/mauve also work as tops as long as they are with jeans or dark trousers however these look best in summer when I am slightly more tanned, in winter they wash me out completely.

AgathaHarkness · 01/10/2021 13:00

Medium to dark brown hair, slightly warm, brown eyes and very pale skin (can’t decide if it’s warm or cool). I’ve not had my colours done but deep colours suit me best, I look pretty shocking in pastels! My best colours are very dark forest green, burgundy and petrol blue.

MistySkiesAfterRain · 11/10/2021 12:37

On the John Lewis Personal Style Edit you put in your eye, hair and skin colour and it recommends 5 colours. Its brilliant.

My issue is that my hair bleaches in the sun, so I'm deep taupe with a burgundy undercurrent in winter, and brown to auburn in summer. My skin is fair then goes medium in summer with freckles. My eyes stay hazel though ( I always thought they were brown but they are hazel). I picked the colours that are the most consistent for me through the year.

Cruiser11 · 11/10/2021 15:36

Medium brown hair and hazel eyes. I
wear a lot of gingery/tan colours but probably should wear more electric blue and turquoise as these really suit me as does bright pink.

Bedpost · 11/10/2021 15:51

Red hair, blue eyes and either very pale or a bit self tan. I never think about what colours suit me I just wear what ever the shops are selling and I like? Anyone else? I’ve never noticed other people suiting or not suiting colours. I have a red top, a burnt orange coat, a light pink coat, some pale and dark blue tops, black, white, green-no bright pink purple or yellow but that’s more just because I don’t like those colours.

lurkingfromhome · 11/10/2021 16:42

Oh, I always notice people suiting or not suiting colours. I comment on people on the telly all the time - it seems glaringly obvious to me when someone would look a million times better if only they weren't wearing khaki/turquoise/whatever, or that they're suddenly wearing a colour I haven't seen them wear before and they look amazing.

Simonjt · 11/10/2021 16:47

Black and gray hair
Green eyes
Brown skin (south asian)

I avoid yellow and yellowy green as my skin has a yellowy tone when I don’t have a tan. I have to be careful about orange tones or very pale pink and lilac when I’m not tanned as well.

MeanderingGently · 11/10/2021 17:02

I have brown hair, grey eyes and very fair skin. Blues and greys suit me or creamy-white tops. When I was younger burgundy clothes were in fashion (!!) and they suited me too, but no longer applicable these days.
Black drains every ounce of colour from me and makes me look ancient, no "little black number" for me.

I personally HATE the colour orange. I have nothing orange at all....no clothes, no furnishings, not even a book cover....anything with orange in it does not come near my wardrobe nor my house. Well, I suppose I do eat the odd carrot or orange fruit but very rarely even those....!

TeacupDrama · 11/10/2021 17:17

natural mid blonde hair blue /gray eyes pale skin burns easily but not freckles
suit blues greens red but not too bright can wear most colours apart from yellow orange and acid greens, pastels not so good except in small doses dusky pink yes but peach true pink and lilac are a no go. I can wear black but not too much all black makes me look awful grey doesn't suit me really, dark colours not good so would need a mid navy mid brown . White or cram both work but prefer cream with gold jewellery to white and silver

UniBallEye · 11/10/2021 17:30

Red hair, green eyes, very pale lightly freckled skin.

My wardrobe has lots of navy, wine, bottle green, charcoal, black, cream, white, sage, plum, denim blue (indigo mainly) a smattering of brown, some grey

I never ever wear yellow or mustard and I'm not gone on camel on me either

In the past I wore lots of reds and pinks as my mother refused to allow me to wear them as a child so it was an act of rebellion

We sound similar. I've always been scared of wearing too many of these colours as I feel they overpower me. I classed myself as tawny spring (bright warm medium).

I've been thinking about this thread and done some more research (John Lewis Personal Style Edit is fab) and realised I actually have amber eyes.

This isn't the same as hazel as the undertones are more golden and not green.

My hair varies as its gets sun bleached but it is brown with plummy undertones.

I really want to wear clothes in colours that compliment me especially hair but also eyes so have been doing research into what goes with amber eyes and have decided on a wardrobe colour palette (I'm redoing my wardrobe) to suit my style which is casual with a bit of edgy and feminine:

Casuals of khaki, olive, sandy beige, pinky beige, dark beige, dusty brown, mid grey, grey marl.

Edgy colours to smarten up of navy, burgundy and emerald.

Feminine colours of dusty, faded pink, nude pink. Metallic pink looks amazing.

Accents of turquoiuse, mustard, tan, golden canary yellow, silver grey, bronze and tan. I am also forcing myself to include coral in the summer and red in the winter as they are fun colours.

Darker baby blue is also universally flattering I think, so I wouldn't rule this out, I tried on a vertical blue striped shirt and it looked fab-maybe a good alternative to navy and white stripes which can look a bit harsh.

My wildcard which I wouldn't include per se but is a great contrast so is blue purple / violet. A scarf with a navy outfit for example.

I'm mainly excited about wearing khaki again as I lived in this in my student days. I sort of associated it with combats and street style and contrasting purple, so I'm looking forward to wearing it with neutrals.

I can't get on with camel either. Camel and yellow for me are colours that 100% have to be the right shade and that is hard to see online.

Gold mustard not blah mustard, warm sunny yellow not pale lemon yellow, warm or dusty beige or brown not camel. I imagine the perfect camel is the shade of mixing all the colours of skin and hair and eyes together.

Does purple suit you?

bendmeoverbackwards · 12/10/2021 14:09

How can you tell if a colour ‘suits’ you or not? I still really struggle with this. Had my colours done years ago and had no clue if colours were right or wrong on me. I waited for the stylist to comment in case I got the wrong answer! Grin

I’ve got dark brown hair and eyes and pale skin. I THINK I suit strong colours and people have told me I suit red. I like navy, grey and various blues too.

bendmeoverbackwards · 12/10/2021 14:10

Oh I love burgundy too!

ChaToilLeam · 12/10/2021 14:38

Silver grey hair (formerly dark), blue-grey eyes, fair cool skin. I had my colours done once and came out as a winter. And these are the colours I like and wear: black, purple, navy, red, strong pink. Burgundy looks good and I can get away with burnt orange, forest green and surprisingly, coral. I don’t suit orange, yellow, yellowy greens, and I dislike pastels, browns and beige, they make me look washed out.

I thiink its picking out the tones you can see in your hair, eyes, skin etc. and reflecting these in your clothing. Also if you have an overall warm look then you will always look slightly static and formal in cool colours, and 'feel' more alive in warm colours. And vice versa. Also looking at the colour wheel and seeing what is the opposite colour for contrast.
Preech · 12/10/2021 15:37

Dark brown hair with warm blonde and copper highlights, dark eyebrows, hazel eyes, pale skin with freckles. I go for autumn and deep autumn palettes, but still wear a lot of black because white and cream wash me out more, unless I'm tanned (and I get more bored with navy all the time). Switched to mostly gold jewellery and autumn toned makeup a few years ago and found that works well with any black clothing I wear.

DelphiniumBlue · 12/10/2021 21:45

I used to have brown hair that had reddish glints in when I was young, then it went more of an ashy brown, and now silvery grey in front, and darker/browner towards the back. I've got pale skin that freckles lightly and slightly pinky cheeks. Blue eyes.
I look best in a winter palette, dark strong colours suit me best - black, aubergine, purples and blues. Dark green and weirdly, khaki, also work, as does red so long as it's not too tomato-y. Orange and coral look OK, but I avoid yellow, brown and any shade of beige/camel. Pale colours make me fee too twee, so I avoid them as well.

VanillaAndOrange · 12/10/2021 21:58

I have ginger hair, warm coloured skin with lots of freckles, bluey grey eyes.

I think I suit black, cream, some warm light browns (such as honey and toffee colours), deep reds and some deep pinks, burnt orange, peach, lime green, olive/khaki-ish colours, and slightly surprisingly, taupe, some muted/dusty pinks and very dark blue. I don't like any other pastels on me (e.g. light blue, lilac, aqua, sugary pinks) and I look absolutely awful in pure white anywhere near my face. I can wear purple and teal but they just don't really appeal to me much.

I like mustard yellow a lot too, but sometimes perceive it as being a bit too close to my skin tone and hair colour so it all looks a bit low-contrast. I like wearing it in the form of bags and shoes though!

I only like silver jewellery on me - again, I think it's that gold gets a bit "lost" against my own colouring.
