Autumn perfume suggestions?

Lovely Style and Beauty people , can you help?
I have just gone from blonde to red hair and done a bit of a makeup/wardrobe overhaul.
I want a new perfume, I'm going away next month with new ish younger man and am wanting to smell autumnal and wonderful, I have tried on a few newer perfumes in Boots (a gucci one, the floral one with the cute ad and a Marc jacobs) but they were a bit insipid and young. Possibly influenced by 20 something DDs but they weren't for me.
I wear Angel and Angel flankers (aware this is very 90s and not universally liked)
Tom Ford Velvet Orchid winter and Soleil Blanc in the summer. I like big perfumes that dry down to a dark base note, but happy to experiment.
I feel stuck in a perfume rut, any suggestions?
I am 50 and a bit alt/hippy.

I like the Clarins red one, but it's not got much staying power.

HBGKC · 26/09/2021 20:32

My fave, Mitsouko by Guerlain. Warm old leather gloves.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 26/09/2021 20:36

I'm not a perfume wearer but I've bought a small bottle of Liz Earle 15 for A/W .
Just a spritz probably on my midrif
I really don't like a perfume that walks into the room 5 minutes before I do .

"I'm Home" from Lush sounds right up your street. I've been looking forward to more autumnal weather so I can start smelling like gingerbread again!

TheYearOfSmallThings · 26/09/2021 20:40

Feminite du Bois maybe?

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 26/09/2021 22:20

Autumn/winter favourites here are:

Guerlain Mitsouko
Miller Harris L’Air de Rien
MMM By the Fireplace
Diptyque Eau Duelle
Frederic Malle Portrait of a Lady
Chanel Coco

FlibbertyGiblets · 26/09/2021 22:27

Another vote for Liz Earle no 15.

LadyJJ · 27/09/2021 06:59

Thanks everyone! I'll have to make a trip into the big city and smell some of these

Clinique Aromatics
EL Youth Dew
LE Botanical Essence No 15

Coniferhedge · 27/09/2021 07:31

I like Liz Earle No. 9 for Autumn/Winter, but I have to admit I haven’t tried No 15, so that could be better.

I tried the new Givenchy L’interdit Rouge ( the red bottle) last week and it was a beautiful autumn /winter scent that I am going to have to purchase. I am currently wearing Narciso Poudree which is very wearable cosy scent and it is working really well in the cooler weather.

justaweeone · 27/09/2021 08:25

I've just had a free sample of Tom Ford Ombré Leather. Love it and had so many compliments

Frauhubert · 27/09/2021 08:35

If you like Angel, you might like Jo malone Scarlet Poppy. I am not normally a jo malone fan, except for maybe Pomegranate noir, but scarlet poppy is not very Jo Malone. It’s a beautiful cold weather scent, vanilla and tonka bean, but not sickly sweet. A bit dark and mysterious. It has an amazing staying power. Quite expensive, but i see you like Tom Ford so it should be ok. Black orchid is also beautiful from tom ford range and a similar territory

LightOfAThousandStars · 27/09/2021 11:32

Givenchy L’interdit is really lovely for autumn/winter

You need Shazam!

I feel like I'm left out of the "how to be a woman" memo when I see stuff like this.
I had no idea people paired perfume with seasons 😯

Tish008 · 27/09/2021 18:46

autumn by maison margiela

Blondiney · 27/09/2021 18:47

Pricey but stunning are these two from Chanel. They're big orientals, very un-Chanelish. eBay has samples sometimes if they're not in shops near you.

Le Lion
Coromandel

Perfume is about the only 'woman' thing I know how to do. Grin

@JasonMomoasgirlfriend I am very low maintenance and scruffy and not into make up, clothes etc but I’m very olfactory Grin and love smells. And the changing seasons. I love Diptych Feu de Bois candle for autumn and JM BlackBerry and Bay. Pomegranate Noir for Winter and Christmas, it’s the most heavenly scent of all.

Pomegranate noir for Christmas....sounds amazing actually!

I'm taking notes :)

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 27/09/2021 19:01

@JasonMomoasgirlfriend I have perfumes that I wear all year round, but for me some just feel right at particular times of the year. I like spicy and vanilla scents in autumn and winter, but find them cloying when it’s warm. Likewise very green or beachy smells don’t work for me in cold weather. But it is so personal and there is no right answer!

JasonMomoasgirlfriend · 27/09/2021 19:44

I mean, now it's been pointed out to me it does make sense. I went through a phase of auburny hair colour for autumn/winter then blonde for spring and summer. I just never thought about perfumes.
There's probably a lot more I'm not aware of though!

BrilloPaddy · 27/09/2021 19:48

Angel Muse is absolutely divine, it's a warm heady scent that you need to be very sparing with. www.mugler.co.uk/fragrance/women/angel-muse/angel-muse/M020403044.html

I've also just bought Mon Guerlain which is very wearable.....it's similar to Black Opium but lighter.

mowglika · 27/09/2021 19:48

I love jo Malone vanilla and anise in autumn, dark, rich and sweet with a spicy heart ❤️
