I've just booked a concert for me and DH. It's an inside concert, what do people wear these days to a concert?
I can't remember the last time I went to one!! 🙈

What do you mean concert? Do you mean a gig or something like the proms?

OnebusyMum · 25/09/2021 20:12

Sorry yes a gig.

Comfy shoes, personally I wear comfy clothing, jeans, T-shirt or top and a a fleece or jacke to can tie round my waist if it gets warm and I don’t loose it. Over the shoulder bag. I’ve never seen anyone dressed up.

Ooh, exciting - which band are you seeing? (I think it does make a difference on outfit choice).

I agree, I feel like people dress differently when they see slipknot to one direction 😅

Thanks.
It's The Snuts, so Indie Band. Our 19 year old got us into them, so we will probably be the oldest swingers in town! 🙈

Jeans and t-shirt. pretty much always. I go to dozens of gigs a year (or I used to...). Been to three in the last week.
Usually a band t-shirt of some sort.

OnebusyMum · 27/09/2021 12:16

Thank you. The last concert I went was Little Mix!
I'll have a look into t shirts

I don't think there's a dress code. As ever, dress for comfort and your surroundings.

I've been to a couple of gigs recently in Brixton and Brighton respectively, we were standing and wanted to be at the front so loose cotton clothing as it was HOT squished in with 4000 other people and a zipped pocket somewhere for cash/card/phone so I didn't lose them while dancing.

If I'm seeing a band I love, I wear one of my band tees but beyond that, just cover your erogenous zones in a way which befits your style. It's like when people ask about festival wear and it becomes clear that the straw hat, daisy dukes, cheesecloth thing has its roots somewhere. Most people just wear what they like.

Jeans and a top
Layers to take off if too hot that can be tied round my waist or to the handle of my bag
I use a cross body bag to leave hands free for dancing, clapping and holding drinks
Always wear comfy shoes

Last two gigs I went to involved a lot of queuing. Partly because I wanted to be at the front so turned up 4hrs early but also, lots of Covid passport checks and a temp check too, plus thorough bag and body searches. Then standing/dancing for 2.5hrs during the gigs. Definitely glad I was in trainers!

Jumpingintosummer · 27/09/2021 12:33

Last concert I went to I wore a midi dress, ankle boots (comfortable socks) and a leather jacket (swiftly tied around waist) as it was winter.
I always wear a crossbody bag too.

OnebusyMum · 27/09/2021 12:43

Thank you everyone, it's such a novelty to be going out and child free for the evening too.
I think I'll go with jeans, trainers and a nice t shirt.
We are staying over the night too, so I can just throw a light jacket over my shoulders.
