Jenny packham dress

I have fallen in love with the most beautiful Jenny Packham dress. I have been studying for 7 years and have the equivalent to a graduation where I will be called to my profession. I can't afford to buy it as I have had to give up work to finish the last of my studying as my oldest DD had to be homeschooled due to being extremely vulnerable to covid. Has anyone seen anything remotely similar at a much more affordable price?

Have you checked eBay and Depop for 2nd hand? A few years ago there used to be a lot of Jenny Packham on eBay

It’s a beautiful dress but are you sure it is the right style to wear to a graduation ceremony? I only have experience of the actuarial profession but we all wore suits. I totally wish that everyone wore dresses like that though!

Yes it would be appropriate. Wouldn't be worn for the actual ceremony- that is just a plain black dress but there is a black tie event afterwards!

Have you thought about hiring a dress OP? I’ve never done it myself but it’s another way of having a lovely outfit to wear for a special occasion for a fraction of the cost. Carrie Johnson is known to do this.

Out of interest has anyone used any of the rental services before? Do you just have to take a gamble on the item fitting when it arrives?
I’d love to rent a designer dress for an event but if it only arrives a few days before it doesn’t leave much time if it doesn’t fit plus it’s then a waste of money.
