Boots with midi skirt/dresses

Just wondering what boots will you be wearing with midi skirts and dresses, I've got some nice outfits in mind but I'm stuck at footwear. I've got trainers which look nice with them at the moment but as it gets colder I think boots will be best, but none of mine seem to look right.

Doc Martens. I am really looking forward to digging them out.

Biker boots usually, one that are cut slim to the ankle/leg.

I'm never convinced it looks good on me though I always think it does on others.

I like slim fitting (ideally laced) over the knee or knee boots with midi skirts. I think the boots have to show your ankle shape so the bottom half doesn't look shapeless.

I've just bought these and I will almost certainly wear them with skirts!

@gah81 I thought knee boots but the ones that I have just don't look right, maybe they are a little wide and a lace up fitted pair would be good
