Lost my style post kids/40

I'm mid 40s. In terms of body shape I'm 5'2", long body for my height (so really short legs!), size 8ish, small boobs.

When I was younger I loved minis as I had great legs/ bum, but wore demure tops as I never had boobs I wanted to show off. Then late 30s/ early 40s and skinny jeans with a looser top (plus heels at night) flattered me with a mum tum and spreading waist.

Now I'm mid 40s, and things that suit me ie minis/ skinnys and heels seem to be out (though I'm still clinging onto my skinnys!). Current mom jeans/ wide leg/ cropped trousers look terrible on me, as do cropped or tight tops. I wear trainers which is fine in the day, but looking for a change for a very occasional night out. But I don't like brogues or more masculine styles.

I feel I need to find a new style to suit my changing age and figure, but new trends don't fit the bill. Any ideas or inspiration??

I can really relate to this though have massive boobs to deal with. Essentially a lot of the styles now are quite casual and loose and oversized and they don’t suit me, I look shapeless and manly, quite the feat with the aforementioned massive boobs.

I think the answer is just a hint of it, so not baggy jeans but something slightly looser (slim), not cropped but slightly short. A slightly loose jacket, that type of thing. You can still look current without going all out with the trends.

Wondering if you’re me. I’m also 5ft 2, size 8/10, although big boobs (thanks kids) and a mum tum.

I know you don’t like mum jeans but I have some from Asda and I live in them, they’re so comfortable. I tend to wear longer skirts if I go out, with trainers or smock dresses and DMs. Jumpsuits are good. Rarely wear heels these days.

I like the Mid Life Chic blog for ideas. She did a style seminar series:

Mini smock dresses?

I don't have nice legs and I always think that mini dresses in different shapes etc are always in fashion, so frustrating!

Thanks all. I dream of decluttering and sorting like the woman in that link! It's one of my jobs on my day off now youngest dc is in school.

I like the idea of long pleated skirts a la hush, but anyone know where does them for short legs? Also, what do you wear on top? Needs to be tucked in so I don't look like a small apple, but not sure that flatters my bloated tummy?
