Dress style help for short curvy person

I need a dress for a funeral, it doesn’t have to be black but I guess darker colours better.

I’ve been looking for ages online but am struggling to find something that will suit me. I’m short 5’3” and find the long floaty maxi dress look swamps me. On the other hand I’ve got a lockdown tummy so don’t want anything too tight! I’m size 12, more curvy than straight.

Please can anyone suggest anything or good shops for my size & shape and also what footwear to go with it? Getting a bit desperate now! Thanks

Thank you @CatKittyCatCatKittyCatCat i’m running out of time and can’t get to shops so will need to order online and try a few on. Will have a look at these ideas. Just don’t want to look bigger than I already feel.

I'm 5'3 and find a wrap dress that is midi length looks good on me. I'm at least 3 sizes smaller on top than the bottom so this shape helps.

Not sure your size but simply be and yours do some lovely dresses this style but think they are size 14 and up.

@KateLumley they are lovely dresses, i really like the colours. I don’t often buy nice things so I’d like to get something I could wear again during the winter.

I see lots of dresses are styled with boots. Would this be ok do you think for this occasion? I’ve never worn boots with a dress before & not sure I’m confident enough to but I actually really like the look.

Ankle boots with a block heel would look lovely.
