How many pairs of trainers is too many?

Just looking at the Adidas Superstars thread and a few people refer to having “loads of pairs”. I feel guilty if I have more than one category of shoe or trainer at any one time but then that means that when you need a replacement you are panic buying something that is meant to be versatile and then wearing them to death… repeat cycle.
If you are a regular trainer wearer how many pairs do you own? If you see something that “pops” aesthetically fo you justify buying it knowing that the style will be gone in a few weeks or months?

I'm quite dare I say (buzz word alert), minimalistic, with my wardrobe, so I only have a few pairs of shoes and boots. But if you wear them all, then crack on, clearly!

Fwiw, I've got some winter trainers (Allbirds), runners (Adidas - for actual sport), summer trainers (Puma) and that's it. Not relevant but aside from that I have hiking boots, smart boots, Dublin river boots, a pair of sandals and two pairs of ballet flats. So actually 9 pairs of shoes and boots...not that minimalist maybe!

I have two pairs of white air force 1s, a "good" pair (ie clean and still v white) and a battered pair, when the good pair get manky i will buy the same again and chuck the older ones.
I have white converse and black vans (for spring/summer only as they arent waterproof like the nikes).
Then a pair of fashion/bright colourway new balance and a pair of Adidas running trainers for sport...so 6...but they are all well used 🤣

Golly ok I am a long term trainer officionado.

As a minimum I'd say you need a dark and a light trainer.

That could go further:

A white summer plimsoll e.g. superga, or some kind of white, grey or taupe trainer

A baseball boot trainer if these suit you (the winter equivalent of above)

These are casual everyday running around trainers. Go with skirts.

A coloured funky trainer that coordinates with the bulk of your wardrobe. I like 2 colours with a 3rd accent. Preferably goes with jeans and supercomfy for walking around in.

A sporty trainer. Could be neutral. E.g. navy, black, or a block colour.
