I find them quite dated to be honest. They were everywhere for a while.

If you want to invest in leather bottoms, leather trousers would be a better option and maybe you can wear them for a few more seasons

Leather leggings are best worn with Canesten.

gunnersgold · 22/09/2021 18:13

It's a yes with big chunky knits ! Most obviously aren't leather and you don't get sweaty bits !

schmalex · 22/09/2021 18:40

I'm planning to wear mine with a big chunky roll neck and platform DMs (or lug boots if I buy some).

Debbiem50 · 22/09/2021 18:41

Not very vegan friendly suggesting buy real leather. Faux leather is perfectly fine

Gigia · 22/09/2021 18:45

I still like mine, I wear them with chunky kitted jumpers or a long fitted t shirt and a blazer.

Gigia · 22/09/2021 18:45

Knitted not kitted

real leather vs faux leather is actually a very interesting ethical argument and not as simple as animal product = bad, synthetic = good.

Animal death is an unavoidable part of leather product. But. Leather is a hard wearing, quality material that lasts a really long time, often leather improves with age. Another benefit is that as it is natural it will biodegrade in the long run and not add to the landfill problem.

Faux leather leggings might be free of animal death to create the textile, but they are often low quality, not very hard wearing, meaning they will need to be replaced more regularly. As they are ultimately plastic they will not biodegrade, and will also release micro plastics when washed which make their way into the water systems. Not to mention the very cheap price encourages over consumption and fast fashion when compared to the high price of real leather.

Summalovin - the problem is leather isn’t highly priced. Cheap leather comes at a horrific price to the animals. If a country like China can treat companion animals so barbarically I shudder to think how cows etc are treated. Leather production is hardly environmentally friendly either. Plus studies have shown that it has ceased to be a by product of the meat industry - it’s a standalone industry now. So many people coo with delight about really cheap leather goods but there is a truly awful price being paid for it. Plus it has been shown that dog leather is very much used in Vietnam and China etc and passed off as other. Think carefully about where your leather is sourced. Personally I would rather have faux leather than cheap leather.

I still like faux leather leggings with trainers (vegan leather Smile) or chunky boots and a knit in answer to the original post.

Mine are lambs leather in black (I got the Joseph ones a few years ago) and I like a pink fitted cashmere mini dress with mine. Bit 80s rock wife. A blazer dress works well too.
