Can I style this for an evening winter event?

I just bought this dress on sale and I love it. I'm a size 16, with large breasts but good legs and the dress makes me feel fab.

I have been invited to a smart dinner in early winter (November) and I'm wondering if I can wear this dress? I just don't know how to style it. I'm planning to wear it now with nude wedges or sandals, denim jacket for casual or a cardigan for something a bit smarter but I don't that will work for a winter evening. Do I have options or do I have to accept this is a day dress or a summer evening dress and I need something else for this event?

That's very much a summer day dress.
It's a great dress, but not right for a winter evening, hopefully you can find something which will make you feel just as fabulous

Bugger, that's what I thought too but was hoping someone creative and clever would come up with something! I'm holding out hope someone else will come along with some genius idea but not that optimistic .... and in the meantime will wear it as much as possible over the next few weeks/months. Wish I had a wedding to go to! Grin.

Ah stick some black tights and chunky boots with it and it'll be fine! Leather jacket or long wool coat if more formal. I love it!

I'd try it with tights and boots and maybe a belt in the same colour? (ie black) or a leather jacket? Not totally sure it will work as it is pretty summery but worth playing around with if you love it.

Oooh it’s a lovely dress, but I’m not sure it would work in the winter.

dudsville · 22/09/2021 17:43

Yup, ditto. Find a nice winter dress and look forward to wearing this one next summer!

Maybe blazer and ankle boots? Would have to try it and see though.

It's a summer dress, one that should be worn with bare legs and sandals. Please do not wear black opaques and chunky boots with it (as suggested by a previous poster)

TiredButDancing · 23/09/2021 10:15

Yeah, I didn't think the black option would work! I did wonder about ankle boots in brown or cream or something but I don't have any and have no desire to buy any.

Oh well, I'll wear this dress for now and see what I can find for winter. Maybe in a few weeks I'll be able to find something in a similar style but with a more wintery vibe (once all the sales stock is gone).

Yes definitely a summer dress. Would look odd at an evening event in November
