Amazing Autumn Wedding outfit for plus sized guest?

I really need help from people who know style. I need a fabulous outfit (dress or jumpsuit I was thinking) for my friend's wedding in a swanky London hotel at the end of October. I am actually starting to dread it as my self confidence is at rock bottom and I know a lot of stylish people will be there. I don't want to look like the country cousin in a hand me down.

I don't get dressed up very often (who does these days), and I have put on a lot of weight in the last 4 years so I am feeling really self conscious. I was a 12/14 but currently 18/20. I'm tall, 5'9'' and booby (38GG). I'm 42 and have never been very into fashion so am rubbish at this.

Day to day I wear dresses like this and I think they suit me. www.popsyclothing.co.uk/collections/frontpage/products/bliss-green-purple-ditsy-floral-print-midi-dress

I tend to wear flowery/patterned and dark colours as I feel it hides lumps and bumps.

Has anyone got anything to suggest? Brands or specific outfits? Oh budget, I'm flexible, ideally under £100 but will go to £150 for something totally amazing.

Very appreciative of any thoughts at all, thank you so much!

I have a similar problem although I'm a little shorter than you. I often go for a good quality top and wide leg trousers in either black or navy with an embroidered silk jacket or a kimono over the top. One Hundred Stars would be a good starting point - you need one of their long kimonos or a duster coat rather than the regular ones.

What's your budget?

Im a similar size but perhaps a different shape (think large square egg on legs). I love and would wear this, but its a bit pricy for me...

What colours look best on you?
Do you have a defined waist?
The great news is that there is loads out there in the length you linked to, and lots of print.

Monsoon have 20% off
Usually get good things there, Boden fit beautifully, lots of lovely swishy jersey dresses
This is a real bargain from Evans, could treat yourself to some lovely wedges and great jewelry

Scarlet and jo are good , well the plain coloured stuff, the prints are bit old

Otherwise going vintage looking like vivienne of Holloway
I had something like this and had fab irregular choice shoes with it. Suits a curvy figure.

Enjoy.

Make sure you already have the right underpinnings, maybe a trip to https://www.rigbyandpeller.com/UK on your way there.

Great hair cut, blow dry on the day and feel fabulous.

Have you thought about vintage styles
I find them v. Flattering and you can really dress them up. red belt and shoes and a statement lipstick

This is fabulous for an autumn wedding. Gold or nude shoes and clutch, nude lipsticks and understated make up, gorgeous.

@pavlavah I have that Gina Baccona at JL in my basket but can’t decide. The model is so skinny it’s tough imagining it fitting over my boobs!

Well, you won't know unless you try it on!

Palavah · 20/09/2021 20:37

From the styles they usually have, i think Gina Bacconi is designed for a fuller figure so it's worth a punt. You can always return if not.
