I've never needed a concealer before really, but at 46yo, I had a sudden breakout of acne. Its now under control, but the redness is still there and my foundation isn't covering it. I also fear another breakout and want to be prepared!

I have pale skin and am useless with make-up so it would need to be something that goes on without much skill in the application. Bonus points if it works really well as an under eye concealer as my dark circles are horrific!

nars creamy concealer. I have pale skin too and this is really easy to apply as it has a doe foot applicator

Thanks - there are so many shades! I think I'd have to go to a Nars store to work out which one is for me. I have a Mac near where I live if anyone rates Mac concealers?

This one is good: m.maccosmetics.co.uk/product/13844/10181/products/makeup/face/concealer/pro-longwear-concealer but the bottle is fiddly and you often dispense too much
The hourglass vanish concealer is also good coverage with an easier bottle.
I am NW15 in the Mac one and “Birch” in the Hourglass one.

IT Cosmetics concealer - if you can get a good colour match - is pretty opaque and budgeproof. The trouble is that that palest colour is almost white and the next one up is bordering on pale orange. I ended up getting two and mixing them.

Thank you. I don't have an Hourglass concession near me, so I think I will try the Mac one. It seems to do exactly what i need it to. Shame about the packaging though!

If you really need heavy cover, Estée Lauder Double Cover foundation is great. It’s very thick. Actually it might be quite economical to buy this and use it as a concealer instead of a paying nearly same price for something that basically does the same thing in a much smaller quantity package. I also love Shiseido Synchro skin foundation but the Estée Lauder one covers like nothing else.

WellTidy · 20/09/2021 14:38

Thanks but the Estee Lauder one would be too thick and wouldn't spread as I'd need it to. I am a huge Estee Lauder fan for skincare and make-up, but I can't even use their Double Wear as it is far too heavy for me.

Have you tried the Dior concealer? It's been a game changer for me after seeing Sali Hughes raving about it. I got colour matched at local Boots store. Not cheap but just melts into my skin perfectly!

I like the look of that Dior one, thanks! There is a Dior concession in my local Boots.
