Fake tan - does it really not smell anymore??

I saw an article saying that the normal biscuity smell has gone from fake tan these days - is that right??
I normally just can't bear to wear it as I seem to have such a strong smell from it - maybe it's just my skin?
Anyway if there has been a fake tan breakthrough in the last 3 or 4 years do let me know!

If you buy a DHA free one it shouldn’t smell.

brokenbiscuitsx · 20/09/2021 17:00

Lots of people told me the Bondi Ssnds ones don’t smell but they do! DP could smell it as soon as he walked in the house! I thought it smelt a bit biscuity but he says it smells of hot dog water 🤢 (on the plus it makes my skin really soft and nice it’s washed off it doesn’t smell) Luckily I like being pale throughout Winter 😂

Bondi Sands doesn’t smell* (stupid autocorrect!)

octopusrus · 20/09/2021 21:47

Oh ok this sounds promising! I used to carry the smell even after I'd like washed it off, must just stick to me! I will search for the DHA free and also look at Bondi sands, thank you Smile

It does all still smell (including Bondi Sands) but it isn’t as strong. You can still tell it smells of fake tan though.
DHA is the thing that makes the tan.. tan..

I keep getting my hopes up and trying the latest thing but they all still smell.

Elieza · 20/09/2021 23:18

I got tan luxe and it smells like raspberry. I was very impressed.

I buy from qvc U.K. as they do a 60 day money back guarantee even if you use the stuff. You only pay postage both ways. So totally worth it. Currently £36.98 for two products that I have the tall one of. Dunno if the smaller one is any use as I’ve not tried.

Bobsyer · 20/09/2021 23:23

They all smell. Bondi Sands smells too. Even the less smelly ones smell worse the more you use them.

Haven't tried tan luxe but I tried another tanning water and it smelled just as bad.

I use wash off make up - Body Shop or Bondi Sands - as they don't smell and because you don't get scabby looking ankles.

wombforanotherone · 20/09/2021 23:45

They all smell ok initially but then all the same after a few minutes so don't believe the hype!

Recessed · 21/09/2021 10:11

They definitely still smell! I bought that line too and spent £££ on new tan and yup smells the same old biscuity musk Envy

Iamthewombat · 21/09/2021 15:29

Yes, they all still have the biscuit smell. No matter what they claim. I put it on the night before I change the bedding and I shower it off with soap rather than shower gel.

octopusrus · 21/09/2021 22:55

Thank you all so much for saving me £30 on yet another product I will bin!! Thanks

Bare by Vogue is my favourite tan. It’s smells pleasant. You have to wash it off after 5+ hours. I really rate it.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 21/09/2021 22:59

They definitely still smell. Not when you apply it, but by the time the colour has developed, you will smell like digestives.
