Coat/jacket for older teen

DD(19 - almost 20) needs a coat. She's been housebound for the past 6 years due to illness and has never had a coat as 14 year olds (when she got ill) didn't wear coats. We're hopeful that she'll be well enough to able to start going out soon, but only outdoors because of Covid.

So she's asked for a coat for her upcoming birthday. But we have no idea what style to get. It would be more to protect from the elements if it's raining or windy, rather than for warmth as she can't tolerate being hot. She normally wears jeans and hoody and is quite large in size due to being mainly bedbound for years. She's not bothered by brands or fashion.

Can anyone help with style suitable for a 20 yo please. Thanks.

Is your daughter able to scroll through websites with you?

If so, given there is infinite choice nowadays, it might be nice to make the choosing part of the fun of the gift.

If not, the first question is how much do you want to spend? (Bearing in mind that most 20 year olds - even if not into fashion - probably don’t want a coat to last forever!)

My first suggestion would be something from Community Clothing which does ethically/environmentally aware, casual clothes. She might find she likes their jeans and hoodies, too.

Should have said - this parka seems like one of their nicest, and most suitable things. Completely unisex despite being in the Men’s section; cotton, so shouldn’t be too hot, and a contemporary shape.

If you would like to have it waterproof and windproof then going with an outdoor clothing brand might be a good idea such as Regatta or Trespass.

Lined Mac from new look should do the trick. Shower proof and warm ish... about 22 quid...
