Accessories help

I’ve always been clueless when it comes to scarves, belts, jewellery. I really need help with some accessories for work and casual wear, and hoping you can make some suggestions (and links would be even better!), as o feel very boring and grey at the moment.

I wear a lot of neutral colours. At work I have to be fairly formal and wear a lot of black with a bit of white, camel, charcoal grey and some jewel colours thrown in.
For casual wear, I wear navy, various blues/greens/teal, white and again, fall back on black a lot.

I’m a ‘cool, jewel winter’ if you believe in ‘having your colours done’ Grin.

I think I’d like some silky scarves, simple silver jewellery and decent belts but where to start? Budget isn’t designer, but could stretch a bit for some decent stuff.

Here's the thing...you don't say your age but I'm in my 40s and avoid silky scarves like the plague. They're very ageing in my opinion. Fine if you're young though!

Belts are great if you're slim...but not otherwise! Are you slim?

Re. nice silver jewelry, I always shop on Etsy for lovely things which aren't going to be something everyone has. Do you like large or small? Drop or non drop?

I prefer to wear a silk scarf around my belt loops or threaded/tied to a bag or (in summer) to tie my hair up as I agree with the pp - they can look ageing.

Ok, this is all really useful, thank you!

I’m mid 40s, so don’t want anything ageing Grin. I had no idea silly scarves were a bit dated . So I’m obviously not very on trend. I’m just trying to think of ways to inject colour/interest in to very plain outfits.

I am quite a classic dresser (boring?) but not totally middle aged. More safe, stick to styles I know suit me and definitely not into bright colours and wacky prints.

On the plus side, I suppose, I’m tall and slim.

Going to look at the links now!

It's not that they're dated, it's just that older women often use them to hide crepey necks or to break up their dark clothes....so when you're over 40, it does look rather 'old' if you see what I mean.
