If I like Joe Browns clothes does it mean I'm old?

I suspect it does!

No.

It does mean you've internalised some unhelpful stereotypes about age, though

Standrewsschool · 17/09/2021 19:07

No. Choose clothes you like, not what other people think you should be wearing.

Perfect response 👌

My reply was going to be, "No, because I am old and can't imagine wearing Joe Brown, though I may have done if it existed in the 90s"

No. But I don't think you would look particularly fashion forward if you are even bothered about that type of thing. (I am not BTW)

I'm not really bothered, but when you get to a certain age what you wear can make you look 10 years older or 10 years younger!

I hope not! I love Joe Browns.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 17/09/2021 19:17

Apparently I'm really frumpy because I like Seasalt.

Fortunately I don't give a fuck Grin

ShinySquirrel · 17/09/2021 19:19

I loved Joe Browns the most when I was in my early twenties. I'm late thirties now and a lot of it looks awful to me now.

Make of that what you will.

Same. It went the way of Per Una really quickly.
Laiste · 17/09/2021 19:48

I dunno - when i was younger it looked too old/try hard - now i'm older it looks too young!

RobertaFirmino · 17/09/2021 21:34

Shit, I'm wearing a Joe Browns dress right now. It does have monkeys on it though. Am 44.

BrilloPaddy · 17/09/2021 21:42

Shit I'm 51 and most of my tops are Joe Brown...............

Goes off to hide in the naughty corner!

starfishmummy · 17/09/2021 22:00

Well I'd love to say no. But actually I am old. (Sorry)

FluffyWhiteBird · 17/09/2021 22:37

It depends what items you pick and how you combine them. You could go into any shop and combine fashionable items in a way that isn't currently fashionable. I don't understand how people can say if you wear from a particular shop or brand you're not fashionable, but if you buy from other shops or brands you are. I think comments like that show a lack of imagination for the individual flair each person brings to their own style.

DrCoconut · 17/09/2021 22:39

I really like a lot of Joe Browns but it's so expensive. I'd buy it all if I won the lottery 😂

Evenstar · 17/09/2021 22:48

@DrCoconut there is a website that has some discounted Joe Brown and lots of Seasalt @MrsPelligrinoPetrichor if you follow them on Facebook they notify you of new stock www.louisescloset.com/

I’d say more quirky than old, which you can be at any age.

RunningStrong · 19/09/2021 10:25

Oh, it keeps coming up on my FB and I like quite a few things. I thought it looked like it could update my wardrobe Grin

Tinkerbellfluffyboots79 · 19/09/2021 10:39

I’m 42 and have a dress thing, and I like some of the 70’s collection. I just like what I like though.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 19/09/2021 10:41

I don't think so, I think some of their clothes are a bit garish but I like some of the pieces.
I bought a beautiful black cardigan/jacket with roses on it some years ago but I think it's made of plastic or something because it's too hot to wear unless it's snowing. It would be great for an Everest expedition.
