Sudden red swollen baggy eyes

Over the last week or so I've had a hideous cold, snotty, sore throat, itchy red eyes etc. The other night I must have rubbed my eyes loads in my sleep as I woke up and they were really red and one has a really pronounced baggy wrinkle.
I've tried putting eye cream on there and it's just got red / dry and sore. It's been a few days now and still looks really bad. I've literally gone from having no wrinkles under my eyes to having a huge one under one eye and a small one under the other... I'm only 41 and am hoping I can sort this out somehow and get them back to normal!
They are still dry and sore, but nothing seems to be working. Can anyone help please?

I get this a lot! My skin and eyes are very sensitive and flare up often, I can go to bed fine then wake up in the morning with puffy, red, dry wrinkled skin around my eyes! I think it’s a reaction to something but I can’t work out what (I haven’t changed anything). An antihistamine and a very small amount of hydrocortisone cream helps (you shouldn’t really use this on your face as it’s steroid cream but it was a pharmacist that told me to use it)

I have had the same for the last week or so. In my case I think it is an allergic reaction to a new plant I have in my allotment which I unwisely cut for a vase

After a bit of googling I think it must be allergic shiners and I am taking antihistamines, using eye drops and I'm going to buy a saline nose spray.

I'm hydrating the area with Cerave eye cream but it doesn't make much difference
