Which 3 interventions to improve appearance?

Zooforhouse · 16/09/2021 22:04

If you could recommend only 3 things to improve appearance over time what would they be?

Mid 30’s, non sleeping child and feel old and haggard suddenly.

Creams, supplements, other?

Interested to know what has helped others!

Drink loads of water - tedious, but works.
Glycolic acid - has improved my skin dramatically without being a faff to use.
Moisturiser day and night - took me years, but it is really worth finding the right ones for you. For me it’s No.7 daytime and Clinique at night.

Decent bra

Zooforhouse · 25/09/2021 23:38

I’ve been drinking water—2L a day for a week now. I certainly feel better, I’m not craving the caffeine and biscuits. Hopefully my skin will look amazing soon…

anyone tried fillers??

Gigia · 28/09/2021 11:49

As others have said for me they are: generally - losing weight, exercising more and eating better

For my face- Botox, microblading and vitamin c

toolazytothinkofausername · 28/09/2021 11:52

@KirstenBlest

Decent bra
Very true! Properly scaffolded tits look much better than those hanging down low.
NotMyCat · 28/09/2021 11:53

Brows
Teeth whitening
Retinol (and Spf!)

mowglika · 28/09/2021 13:16

Its different for everyone, my top 3 are

good skincare/spf
lose weight
facial exercise

others: sleep, healthy food, light coverage makeup, supplements (collagen, omega, vitamin D)

ArabeI · 28/09/2021 13:31

Sleep
Water
Exercise
Healthy eating and supplements

and/or:

Botox (I've just had light 'preventative' Botox and look more 'awake', though nobody has noticed!)
A good exfoliant. P50 or similar.
Foreo Bear

Tretinoin (though I haven't used this, personally).

SuperStarRose · 28/09/2021 15:44

BoPeeple · 28/09/2021 16:13

Sleep, exercise and sex.

My skin always looks amazing straight after sex 😂

SmallestInTheClass · 28/09/2021 20:10

Sleep...boring but 8 hours a night is free and takes years off
reduce alcohol
SPF daily even in winter

Zooforhouse · 28/09/2021 22:15

I wish sleep was an option here…one day. In the mean time I’ll stick to spf and water. And some collagen supplement someone gave me-anyone had any luck with that?

Personally I wouldn’t go near Botox or any injectables.

I had a similar problem to you at a similar age but it was from chronic stress & insomnia. I looked like sh*t & put on weight too. Now some people have told me I look much better now & look ‘younger looking’ now. They were not saying that before! I went a long long time not getting a single compliment on my looks. It’s hard to know which thing worked but this is what I did:

  1. Took an expensive natural tonic I got in the health food store (ask the staff for the best one for you & your needs) for about 3 months. Money well spent.
  2. Hot cloth cleansing & facial oil every night for ages.
  3. Fresh air (it’s not just a myth).
  4. A dewy make-up foundation after a lovely drugstore anti wrinkle day moisturiser with SPF . This was actually a game changer. I smiled at myself in the mirror when I saw how much better I looked with this kind of make up on me.
  5. A haircut to make hair much shorter (if it’s past shoulder length now).
  6. A trip to the GP to sort out any health concerns that have been on the long finger & getting treatment for them.

Best of luck OP & remember ‘this too shall pass.’ X[/quote]
This. Absolutely this. Why are so many people so ready to recommend that OP pump botulism into her face? It's nuts.

KittyWindbag · 29/09/2021 07:36

Three products :

Vitamin c serum in the morning. At least 20% vitamin c
Retinol at night
Glycolic acid on cotton pad swiped over skin at night.

All of these things available extremely reasonable from The Ordinary. Varying-expensive elsewhere.

Non product things - drink at least 2 litres of water a day
Always cleanse your face and apply your cream at night.
Don’t drink too much alcohol

Zooforhouse · 29/09/2021 07:46

Yeah I’m not injecting my face!

Botox.
Fake tan!

ilovetomatoes · 30/09/2021 22:02

I agree with a lot of what has been said here already so a few others to throw into the mix

Getting more volume in my hair at the roots when I blow dry it. Takes years off

Highlights/good colour

Home IPL. I can always throw on a dress and never have to worry about shaving etc, ski. On my legs looks great. Game changer

Lightswitch123 · 30/09/2021 22:02

@Oddbutnotodd
