Help me say goodbye to my heels!

I haven't worn a pair of heels in almost three years, apart from on Christmas Day and maybe the very rare drinks party. I have eight pairs taking up space in my wardrobe. All sooo expensive new (as in £3-400 a pair). Good names - Gucci, Stuart Weitzman etc. And in tidy condition. Not good enough to resell on eBay really, but I would wear them without a blush. But.. heels are a young woman's game, and an office-workers uniform, and I am neither. I just never have a day which calls for heels any more. I have left London and left office work and I am never. going. back. I wear sandals all summer, and straight to boots in winter But I am finding it so hard to say goodbye to them! It's like accepting middle age! Talk sense into me, please Smile

Do you need to get rid? Can't you just box them up and put them in the loft or something?

I haven just remembered weddings. And balls. I used go to these things pre-pandemic. Maybe the reason I haven't worn heels is not because my life has irrevocably changed, but because there's been a pandemic. If I get invited to a ball or a wedding I am going to NEED heels. It's a dilemma..

You're not ready to chuck them yet.

Sort out your sock drawer instead.

Put one pair online to sell. If they sell add another pair and so on until they are all gone and you have a few quid to buy new boots for winter. I gave away all but 2 pairs of heels to a charity shop last year. They were in great condition but not expensive. I just knew I wouldn't wear them again as I find them too uncomfortable and I'm too old to pretend to be able to walk in them anymore.

Are they really not good enough to resell on eBay? They're good brands so would think you could pop them on there without question. You could then invest the money you make in a really nice pair of boots or sandals that you'll actually wear. Or are there any dress agencies locally that might be interested? Whatever - I'd probably keep my most favourite pair for those special occasions when a fab pair of heels might be called for!

If you don't need the money, keep them. Eight pairs is not many at all. Chances are you'd need to buy heels again if you were to sell your current ones.

Well I've made no progress at all disposing of the heels - but I have bought some R Soles gaucho boots for Autumn, so not a bad day 😁

Can’t you box them and put them in the attic or on top of a wardrobe pr store them inside luggage/suitcases? I really don’t buy into the marie kondo and clearing out everything though. Fashion changes, your taste and lifestyle changes, and if something is in working condition and you like it, you should keep it.
