pro collagen marine cream by Elemis is the best moisturiser I have ever used. Expensive but really is worth it.

katierocket · 04/12/2007 21:04

hello tamum
yes thanks (you might know this but turned out the poor little man had cows milk protein intolerance, hence the screaming and months of no sleeping). I just so rarely get chance to come on MN these days.

MI - send me your cast off potion please.

OliviaMumsnet · 04/12/2007 21:31

I will second Furball's Dermalogica one and have another one but can't remember what it's called.
Back in a bit

Tamum · 04/12/2007 21:33

Oh no katier, I missed that- I am sorry, bless him. Thank goodness you sorted out what it was though

katierocket · 04/12/2007 21:56

I know, he was utterly transformed once I cut out diary (I was BF). I feel sorry that he had to go through months of misery (and us!).

Re; moisturiser - Liz Earle is fantastic and Neal Yard Frankincense Nourishing Cream is also brilliant.

Estee Lauder DayWear Plus for old prunes Dry Skin

Scent 9/10 - light, fresh, cucumber smell
moisturising ness 20/20 - lush & has SPF 15 too
absorption 10/10 - not a trace of grease left
value for money - 8/10. £28 for 50ml. It's one of the few moisturisers that doesn't leave me with a trouble-causing greasy sheen so worth every penny to me. And I only use about 3 pots a year.

BirdyArms · 04/12/2007 22:54

I am also reviewing Estee Lauder DayWear Plus for pruny people. I almost concur with the Duchess

Scent 9/10 - light, fresh, cucumber smell
19/20 for moisture - I must be slightly more scaly
absorption 10/10 - not a trace of grease left
value for money - 9/10 because I only pay £19 for it at Company Store near my office, but still not dirt cheap

woodenchair · 04/12/2007 22:54

Olay total effects fragrace free no spf

scent 10/10
moisturising ness 18/20
absorption 9/10
value for money 7/10 buy it when of offer

Philosophy hope in a jar

scent 8/10
moisturising ness 20/20
absorption 10/10
value for money 6/10

PaulaYatesbiggestfan · 04/12/2007 22:58

lancome hydra xen neurocalm

scent 8/10
moisturising 9/10
absorbtion 10/10
value 10/10 ( it is £35 for 50ml which is middling but worth it as every drop of every pot gets used. this neurobalm is a new version and i find it sliightly more stingy than old hydra xen but my skin is sensitive and it soon calms)

scattyspice · 05/12/2007 09:23

Another vote for No7 (any).

JustineMumsnet · 05/12/2007 18:18

Lizard?

PaulaYatesbiggestfan · 05/12/2007 18:29

lancome cream

fairylights · 05/12/2007 18:32

Olay daily something or other with spf 15:
9/10 all round i would say.
Used to use flipping expensive clarins day and night creams and would give them 2/10 all round - gave me awful skin!

StrangeTown · 06/12/2007 09:04

Dermalogica Active Moist

Scent - 7/10 bit crap, nothingy, but pleasant enough
Moisture - 10/10
Absorbtion - 10/10 seems to adapt to summer/winter skin needs
Value - hmm £32 for 100ml - actually pretty good compared to other Clinque/Clarins products in same price range for which you only get 30-50ml. So 8/10

More functional than glamourous this one.

StrangeTown · 06/12/2007 09:06

Sorry - no Active Moist was done. Mine is Skin Smoothing Cream for drier, more mature skin (35+ I think) - still Dermalogica.

robinpud · 06/12/2007 09:12

I was told as a teenager that Oil of Olay contained human placenta.. didn't really believe it.. but always wondered..

nivea visage oil free mooisturising day time fluid or something
scent10/10
moistruisingness 18/20
absorbtion9/10
value for money9/10

Another vote for Dermalogica skin smoothing, scent was the only let down really.

StrangeTown · 06/12/2007 11:38

Yes G&T scent and packaging are bit pants, doesn't really make it a luxury type experience, but I am prepared to live without this for the benefits of this cream. People are always asking me what I use (honest).

OliviaMumsnet · 06/12/2007 11:58

to hear skin smoothing is for mature skin. Have just read that both the moisturisers recommended for me are for prematurely aging skin. What is facialist lady trying to say?! I changed to Dermalogica to get rid of teenage acne fgs.

I digress: Back to the issue in hand:
Couple of corroborations for Dermalogica:

Dermalogica Skin Smoothing cream 34/40
Scent - 7/10 a bit medicinal and not v luxurious
Moisture - 10/10 - never get dry patches any more - even in the coldest of weather
Absorption - 10/10 takes seconds to go in.
Value - £32 for 100ml - 7/10 not cheap at all and a pita to find sometimes, as not widely available or by internet when you have to pay p&p

Dermalogica Intensive moisture balance 35/40
Scent - 8/10 nicer than the skin smoothing cream but still medicinal
Moisture - 10/10 see above
Absorption - 10/10 see above
Value - 7/10 See above

largevirginbirthandtonic · 06/12/2007 16:11

People never ask me what i use, more a 'how do you cope?' I say gin, pickling from the inside out, no?

Facialist lady may never get a visit from me again... im only blardy 30

Personally i blame the children for premature ageing, i have 6 and look about 60.

Birdly · 06/12/2007 17:12

Another vote for the Decleor Hydra Floral.

£33 for 50ml from Salon Skincare. 46/50

Scent: 10/10. Very light, sort of spa-like
Moisturisingness: 18/20. Does the job, never greasy or oily
Absorption: 10/10. My skin is a total Decleor-oholic!
Value for money: 8/10. On a par with other creams in its market. Wish it was cheaper, but I still buy it!

Agree with Momma - tis even better if you use the yummy neroli Aromessence with it. It's a lovely daily luxury.

PaulaYatesbiggestfan · 06/12/2007 18:21
