Retinol Marionette lines

littletinypeas · 14/09/2021 01:26

I am late 40s and had hysterectomy so been in menopause for years (on HRT but looks like it was too low so upping the dosage)
I have marionette lines that I hate (other small lines on forehead but not bothered by those)
I have only ever used No7 serum and moisturiser and then not often.
Can anyone recommend a goo starter retinol that might stop the deeper lines from getting worse?
Also thinking maybe about fillers so looking for advice about best options please
Thanks

The retinol won’t stop marionette/ Nl lines I’m afraid. These are caused by sagging facial muscles.
The foreo bear is an excellent device which really help a lift up the face.
Retinol addresses the skin texture and collagen.

Tretinoin (prescription strength retinol) and Botox to stop them getting worse.

Yes sorry Tretinoin won’t solve it but it will improve your skin massively so you might feel it’s less of an issue. I’d still recommend it (use dermatica to get proper stuff not retinol on high street).
Profhilo or fillers will make a bigger impact.

Fully agree with @claudia84 that retinol on the high street isn’t strong or efficacious enough to bother with. You need to go prescription strength because it actually does something - hence prescription. But she is right it won’t stop lines already formed but will improve condition of the skin. The great to prevent lines forming is Botox which can also stop less deep young lines too. Anything too deep will need a filler. That’s why people do preventative Botox to stop the lines forming in the first place.
