I can't have manicures or pedicures as people fiddling with my nails makes me feel sick!

I am also about ready to give up on sandals forever as I find they all dig into me! Anything with a toe post being the worst offenders

Do you have any quirks which mean you miss out on some S&B treats or trends?

Shoes give me blisters, sandals give me blisters...I can wear boots, sometimes I can wear trainers. Last time I went to London wearing Ecco sandals, with lovely soft lined leather, I had to buy three boxes of Compeed Blister plasters and my feet were a complete mess.

AlphaJura · 14/09/2021 09:26

I don't mind necklaces but hate high necks (turtle necks) they make me feel hot and itchy and they don't flatter my shape (I'm busty). I also cannot get on with 'mom' jeans. Think they look good on others and teens but for some reason they make me look shapeless and they look too baggy, think my legs are quite slim but I do have hips and a waist. Fitted flares look better on me.

The the pp's who are short but don't like heels, do you wear platforms/wedges. I'm fairly short but have always liked them for adding height and I find them comfortable to walk in. Love it when they're in style (which they are right now)

I’m a 41 too but reckon it’s a 7. I always need to check though! Some size 7s are only 40s. Though a Vans 7 is a 40.5 which fit perfectly Smile
My long torso used to be much more of a problem but it rarely causes issues now. I still can’t wear a one piece swimsuit though.

SavageDetective · 14/09/2021 10:22

How dooo people wear toe posts?! It feels like the most alien thing to me!

I also have extremely painful feet, despite not being anywhere near elderly, so miss out on any exciting/dainty shoes.

Acrackineverything · 14/09/2021 10:22

@Coniferhedge I always say the same thing about walking like Dick Emery, nobody I know gets the reference. Loved that man although his comedy was very "of its time".

toolazytothinkofausername · 14/09/2021 10:28

I can't stand anything on my lips. This is so sad as I love the idea of wearing lip stick, but once it is on my lips I have to clean it off immediately Sad

SantanaBinLorry · 14/09/2021 10:46

I have size 2.5 feet (sometimes a 3 depending on brand) PITA when looking for shoes you 'need'. Great for bargains you don't need. I've got used to knowing by sight if a size 3 might fit by sight and try any shoes 'just in case' Grin This method got me a pair of chunky leather loafers with a cute bow when out school shoe shopping with the kids for £5.16!

Stupid small feet and now arterits means i've never been able to do heels. I do have the most gorgeous pair of Tommy Hillfigure wedge sandles (euro 35). I can walk from the car/taxi to a table and back again. But gah, thay are lovely Grin

Justilou1 · 14/09/2021 11:31

@AlphaJura- love flatforms & some platforms. Meanwhile, I have issues with shoes in general as I have a hypermobility disorder. While historically, rolling my ankles has always been a problem (both directions - what a talent!), now my toes have decided to stop doing their job too. I have a couple that twist upside down when I’m walking, so I have really sexy silicone orthotic toe separators to wear. @SantanaBinLorry, my cousin has teeny feet too. She is basically Tinkerbell. (4ft8. I LOVE hanging out with her!) She rang me up once at 2am from the other side of the planet saying “I bought some new trainers - AND THEY DON’T HAVE DORA THE EXPLORA ON THEM!!!”

Bontanics · 14/09/2021 12:34

Skirts and dresses feature nowhere in my wardrobe at all. They're just not practical for me. I sit cross legged on the floor or the sofa and I'm always cycling so they're just a pain in the arse.

StopThrowingCitrusFruitFFS · 14/09/2021 12:39

I have a good few dresses, but I have to admit, they are not comfy! I love jeans, as long as they fit. If I wear dresses for a bit, I'm always so grateful to get back into my jeans.

@Justilou1 Grin
I may or may not have a pair of trainers with flashing soles for clubbing/raving Grin Wink

FramboiseRoyale · 14/09/2021 14:56

Another toe-post hater here. And high necks. I can't even stand wearing a protective cape at the hairdresser.

Thidwick · 14/09/2021 16:21

Jeans - shorts I’m fine with but jeans either fall down or cut me in half.

Also fancy knickers - I can’t bear polyester or anything small as my arse tried to eat them. M&S cotton midi briefs all the way Grin

SwordfromtheStone · 14/09/2021 16:28

I hate the 'wrong' clothes in the wrong season - even if the weather dictates it would be a more sensible option!

brokenbiscuitsx · 14/09/2021 17:20

I dislike long sleeves, unless they are slightly loose or bell shaped. No idea why just feel hemmed in. In every other season but Winter I can cope fine with even my jacket sleeves rolled up but hate it when I have to wear coats with long sleeves Confused

LittleWingSoul · 14/09/2021 20:00

Lipstick - love the idea of a "red lip" but my lips are full and I always look really clownish!

Ballet pumps - make my skinny ankles and feet look disproportionately small compared to the rest of me (which isn't skinny or small!)

AgathaX · 14/09/2021 20:18

Bakingtraypan - me too. I've never met anyone else whose footwear can make such a mess of their feet as mine can. I'm gobsmacked when I see women walking around in rigid looking, non-leather/suede stilettos, they just look so, so painful.

Justilou1 · 15/09/2021 06:07

@SantanaBinLorry - I can’t tell you the number of times I have looked with envy at toddler shoes. Particularly one little fairy wearing neon pink jelly cowboy boots with rainbow flashing lights in the heels. Come to think of it, her entire outfit was bomb.

Lifeisawillow · 15/09/2021 07:19

Scarves of any description. I hatecthings round my neck and am always too hot so they make it worse.

Heels - too painful !

Tucked in tops - my body is an inverted triangle shape and this just accentuates it.

Jumpsuits - just weird on me

SantanaBinLorry · 16/09/2021 11:20

Flahes, jelly, rainbows all ok, I draw the line at cowboy boots! Grin

goose1964 · 16/09/2021 12:15

Pointy shoes, don't work on my straight across toes. Only if you have triangular feet, like my DH.

EccentricaGalumbits · 16/09/2021 12:29

I'm feeling quite low maintenance after reading this Grin

Lambswool is the only thing I point blank refuse to wear. Even with a layer underneath, it itches me terribly. Merino and cashmere are fine.

givinglessfucksdaily · 16/09/2021 14:14

@EccentricaGalumbits oh yes ... itchy jumpers .. gae me the boak!

Me too, especially scarves and hats, have to be cashmere, even then they can be too scratchy.
