Footwear to go with dresses

I'm thinking of embracing dresses and potentially skirts. This might be a hormonal phase as I hardly ever wear them but I'm 45 and fed up of jeans. I am short at 5'3" and chunky of thigh and look best in A line dresses that end just below my wide knees. But what do I wear on my feet? I walk a lot (5 miles a day minimum Monday to Friday) through woods and up and down big hills so I need something comfy and sturdy but not too heavy. I have a pair of Fly Chelsea boots but would these look ridiculous? Tights with funky socks just peeking out over the top for a splash of colour??

Dr martens would be a good option too. I don’t own any but my friend raves about hers. You can get all sorts of colours too. Maybe an oxblood colour would be nice.
I wear dresses more these days too. Converse in better weather.

These are wonderful - www.cheaney.co.uk/cheaney-marianne-tassel-derby-brogue-in-burgundy-grain-leather-p585

They're so comfortable. Very sturdy and great for walking. I have 3 pairs and I'll wear out (die) before the shoes do Grin

I walk a lot too so I have nike trainers for the walking and change into nice shoes when I get to my destination. My nice shoes at the moment are Leather Timberland wedge heels (the most comfy heels money can buy in my opinion) or leather brogues from Office.

Shoes would be trashed by a Friday. It's wet, muddy, gritty terrain. We scramble up muddy banks full of tree roots on a daily basis on the way to and from school.

What do you think about Chelsea type boots with below knees dresses??
