What would you wear with cream/white jeans?

Last year, I bought some cream coloured jeans from Whistles. Think they are called barrel leg. Not my usual thing, I was trying them on to get my size for a dark pair as were out of stock in the shop and got caught up in how flattering they were!

Lockdowns aside, they have sat unworn in my wardrobe, as I can't work out how to style them.

Any ideas? Is it better to wear with other light colours or can I get away with dark tops?

Yes dark tops. But I actually saw a picture of the thinnest woman in cream jeans with a hand hung down with pink nails and a pink diamond surrounded Princess cut ring, and a lovely fluffy pink roll neck jumper.

I mean, I'm a size 12, I think I might look a bit piggyish in cream and pink!

Are you seriously saying that a size 12 can't wear pink because you would look like a pig Angry

something2say · 10/09/2021 20:31

Well it was just one suggestion. It looked so lovely. But you could wear olive, orange, navy blue, gray, anything with them. Brown boots, furry sheepskin gilet, cashmere jumper underneath...

RubyFakeLips · 10/09/2021 22:15

Yes, I think pink and cream would do me no favours. It sounds lovely, but as the poster said the 'thinnest' woman, its a hard look to pull off if you aren't rail thin.

Tan or grey, basically any other neutral but nothing too dark

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 10/09/2021 22:41

I would probably wear them with a black jumper and black boots. I have the jeans in black and you need something either tucked in or that sits at the waist with them.

BigPyjamas · 10/09/2021 22:47

My friend wore some pale jeans with a beautiful fitted navy jumper recently. It was 3/4 sleeves so showed some skin to balance the darkness of the navy against the white jeans.

I thought she looked amazing in the combo

Byheckythump · 10/09/2021 22:50

Reiss have got them styled with a same colour top and long loose cardi/coat in brown. Looks great.

merryhouse · 10/09/2021 22:54

River Island seem to think a white top is the way to go Confused

Next is a bit more adventuruous, with a couple of darks and a semi-bright blue which doesn't look as nice as I thought it might. The coral top on M&S's site seems to work though. I'd go for emerald green simply because I usually do Grin

I'm seconding the pink suggestion (though without the words)

thisplaceisweird · 10/09/2021 22:55

Breton top obviously!!!!!!!!

Pinkcadillac · 10/09/2021 23:13

I’d wear them with a colourful chunky knit

stealingbeauty · 10/09/2021 23:16

I’d wear them with black chunky boots or trainers (black or white).
For a top I’d wear chocolate brown or black. Maybe pale tan would work too.

Yes I find this with my darker pair too.

I think the advice about neutrals, and maybe navy sound good.

You know how sometimes if you wear a white top and black bottoms you look like a waiter and other times it's fine. I just couldn't get this one right. Will hunt for some neutral tops.

Would this work? I ask as I already own it!

Any shade of blue. Navy or Cornflower especially.

SarahBellam · 11/09/2021 06:18

Monochrome - black top and jacked and black boots. They’d also look great with navy or soft grey. I want a pair now. They sound really versatile! If they’re a creamy white colour I bet they’d be lovely with burgundy.

SeaRabbit · 11/09/2021 06:22

I think your existing top would look good. Maybe push up the sleeves.

StarlightLady · 11/09/2021 07:07

Black tops or plain pastel colours both work well.

Yogsgirl · 11/09/2021 09:34

I'd wear with a navy or black top and converse

EdinaMonsoon · 11/09/2021 11:31

I wear cream & white jeans throughout the autumn with every colour from black through to cool hued pastels - eg duck egg, pink, icy blue (for the latter two stay away from anything too sugary). They look good with caramel tones & slate greys & it’s a softer alternative to navy or black. 70’s style floral blouses are a good option for this milder weather we’re having now (Mango for high street, Isabel Marant for designer). I layer mine with a shaggy gilet or a cardi on cooler days.

Footwear: suede ankle boots (tan, grey or black; flats or heels), Converse, ballet flats, white trainers sometimes but I prefer a smarter look with them.

Take a look on Pinterest for ideas. I got loads of inspiration when I bought mine a couple of years ago.

PersephoneJames · 11/09/2021 11:34

I’ve bought some off white 501s and love a white t shirts and brown leather belt with them. They also look nice (but less fashionable) with a navy and white Breton top for cooler days.

windmill26 · 11/09/2021 14:46

I would wear white jeans with a denim shirt ,navy sweater or t-shirt ,Breton style top or sweater (any colour stripe, doesn't have to be navy).

Bluntness100 · 11/09/2021 14:49

I’d go for a green, like a light olive, or a darker Forrest green.
