Winter boots / footwear 2021

Sooo, with the change of seasons nigh, I am pondering on winter footwear this year.

I feel really dated in my Chelsea boots and with a change of jeans style as well, I simply don’t know what to wear. At the moment I’m wearing mostly high waisted wide legged cropped/just above the ankle jeans or Mom jeans which graze the ankle and I wear them with Air Force 1 Nike trainers or Birkenstock’s.
But what of a wet cold winters day? I’ve tried my black doc martens but I feel like a Coal miner on the picket line.
Any ideas please ?
Thank you

Great question, not very helpful but I'd like to know too please! Grin

It's doc Martins chunky style boots I'm seeing at the moment in shops/online. admittedly it looks good with short long sleeved dresses and tights for the winter feel, but I'm not sure I'm brave enough to try and style them with new non skinny jeans

In the winter I live in my Sorel boots , they're not the welly looking type they are like tan and brown snow boots - really comfy and were a bargain on Amazon cyber Monday a couple years ago

☝️ but this is with skinny jeans or leggings - not baggy jeans x

A coal minor 😂 I'm sure you look lovely!

Dr Martens are ace... I live in Nike Airforce, Hurraches, Birkinstocks or Docs!

You cant beat 1460's just jazz them up with new laces? With those jeans ankle grazers look nice (101's) They do Jadons and Sinclairs with pumped up soles... You could try a new colour and stick with the Chelsea style!? Maybe cherry red, patent are nice or even white?

P.S. I don't work for them I wish I did the amount I spend on them! 😂

Dr Martens 101 are a great idea thanks! Think the slightly shorter style could work well with baggier jeans - off to investigate Thanks

Thanks everyone. I have 101’s. And yes to the laces. Good shout.

I also have some lovely velvet flared legging and everywhere I look they are styled with high top converse (which I thought were really out now, but maybe it’s so long they’ve comeback!).

Really really wants a pair of sorel boots. I miss skinny jeans. So easy to go from horse riding and dog walking to the office and then school run and night out. Black skinny jeans are so versatile

I'm considering breaking out the doc marten shoes I bought 2 years ago but haven't had the confidence to wear. Like you OP, I have concerns around the workman nature of my look. Might start out with midi dress and opaques to ease me in.

I did get a pair of doc marten Chelsea boots last year but when my MIL saw them in our hallway she said 'I like DS's new boots' and I couldn't move past it. So it cheers me up that you've said they feel a bit dated now.

I spend far too much time wrestling with this subject at the moment and I'm yet to come to a satisfactory conclusion. I'm sure choosing footwear never used to be this hard!

Blind stone boots look good with baggier jeans. They’re also very comfortable and great in muddy/ wet weather (although not waterproof)

Or a hiker boot is good to, grenson nAnnette are my favourite and they have good discounts after Christmas.
